Pac wants Cotto @ 143

Yes he was, can't remember the numbers though. Think he was 150 or something with DLH in the high 140s.

 

Pac wants full credit for beating DLH at 147, then he needs another win at 147 to prove it was no fluke. Untill he proves he is something to be reckoned at 147, the DLH fight was nothing more than Pac and Roach taking advantage of a shot and weight drained ODLH, which if that's the case, then that type of fight is not anything to bragg about.

It's like Wayne Martell getting mad credit for beating Meldric Taylor, or Camacho for beating Sugar Ray Leonard.

 

He looked very good against Mayweather, that's the reason why many people were picking him over Pacquiao. People forgot all the advantages DLH had in the contract for that one. Gloves, ring size, weight..etc

 

He doesn't NEED another win to prove it's no fluke, they already admitted they don't belong there but took it because of the money/attention a fight with DLH brings. 140 is where they belong and will stay, they're still kind enough to discuss catchweights with others that want it. These guys need Pacquiao now, he doesn't need them being #1.

 

Manny might be p4p#1 and he can make a certain amount of demands but lets face it, all of the fighters we are pitting him against are above 140 so he needs to take this fight at 145-147 and be done with it. anything less than 145 is bull****. Is he going to make his last 3 fights catchweight fights with the other WW names that are being put on his plate? Not to mention beating cotto at 147 for cotto's belt would be HUGE to say the least so why deny himself of all the credit, especially if he truly believes he can beat cotto as he seemed to after Cotto's recent showing.

 

He did look good in that fight. But he had an excellent gameplan (Roach) and sparring to prepare him (Mosley). Plus like you say all the advantages.

Also I think if Floyd would have attacked more. And use his fast combination punching he would have better results. But Floyd hasn't fought that offensively in years.

While Pac always pushes for a KO.

 

No way! PAC just ain't a WW. He's a great fighter but he's not competing with Shane or DLH who were Prime at WW. Just not possible in my opinion. DLH vs PAC was nothing like I expected. To me it looked like Oscar was shot but only after the 1st 2 rounds where he just looked confused and frustrated. But in the inital going DLH had pop, he was showing some aggression and then PAC just completely took over. All I can do is give credit to PAC b/c I was one who didn't give him a chance. And DLH looked very good 1 yr earlier with Floyd and Completely DOMINATED forbes before PAC. I don't like excuses nor do I make them up on behalf of fighters. Hatton....yea...maybe he was never great but at Jr WW he was the best by beating the best. And PAC took that crown from him with his thrashing of Hatton in 2.

 

To each their own....but if that is the case then DLH, Shane, Floyd, Robinson, Leonard, ALI...all of them hand picked oppoents to secure their legacies. Anyone can spin or create excuses to why a Fighter is winning or loosing. Or discredit opposition for the sole purpose of diminshing a fighters accomplishments. Unfortunately it happens to the greats and It comes with the terriotry. But as a whole "fans" are the ones who create these excuses and the ones that matter in the world of boxing "usually" get it right.

 

If you noticed, Mayweather did try to be offensive early but got caught real hard with a hook that stunned him and was forced to play defensive from there till the end. He did the same with Hatton as the fight went in the later rounds but could afford it as Hatton clearly couldn't hurt him. As he moved up in weight he can't afford being too offensive since his hand couldn't handle the weight he was putting on it and eventually break, it's one of these things in sport that you can't do anything about but have to adapt and rely on natural ability. That's what separates a great athlete from a regular one.

About the gameplan and sparring, he had a great gameplan for Pacquiao too I'm sure but was just outclassed, he couldn't catch him and couldn't handle the speed. Pacquiao kept turning him and that's what ruined it completely. Pacquiao wasn't too aggressive either, he was playing defensive and pot shotting till he noticed DLH can't seem to land his own again because Pacquiao kept turning him. Pacquiao was also too fast, he kept jumping in with fast as hell combinations then immediately out, never gave DLH a chance to set his self and land his own.

 

If Cotto wants his ****ing pay day he should fight at 140. I think we are forgetting who really wants who here!

I'm a Pac fan, and even I think this fight should be 145. thats the perfect middle ground for both fighters. If Cotto fights at 143, Pac will beat him, and the win will be disputed all the place. 145 or nothing IMO.

 

so then should all of manny's upcoming fights be WW's fighting at 140 b/c the only names being mentioned for PAC in the future, aside from JMM, are above 140 so it's PAC who needs to make up his mind. Does pac really want all of his last fights to be catchweight fights?

That had me thinking last week about Floyds hands. How much of his defensive fighting was due to brittle hands? Could the break give his hands some healing they needed? And will get an offensive Floyd facing Marquez since this will be the smallest guy he's faced in years.
