I'm not sure if math is your strong point but.... Pac = 112 -> 130 = 18 PBF = 130 -> 147 = 17 The difference is 1 pound. Also, Mayweather jumped up 17 pounds in a MUCH SMALLER time frame. MORE THAN 2 TIMES. Pac = 1.6 lbs/year PBF = 3.4 lbs/year (24 to 29) So gratz, according to your logic you just proved PBF is on PEDS. Good work!
The only problem is that Pacquiao is currently a welterweight, you stopped counting his weight gain at 130 lbs....... .....so let me do the match for you...... Pac = 112 -> 147 = 35 PBF = 130 -> 147 = 17 The difference between the two in weight gain since they were 20 years old is 18 lbs. ......and mind you Pacquiao started out smaller at 112 where's Mayweather started at 130 lbs...... The 18 lbs difference here does'nt do the overall picture justice in that Pacquiao increased a much bigger % of his total weight. The smaller the fighter you are, the more just 2 or 3 lbs can make a difference in the ring. For Welterweights for example, one fighter having a 2 lbs edge is'nt much, but for a flyweight, thats a much bigger % of your weight and makes more a difference if you're giving your opponent a 2 lbs edge.
There is nothing strange about it. Just name all the boxers that did it? Not all the boxers that could have done it. Klitchko weigh 106 at one point.
A thing with Pacquiao's "jump" people miss out is the fact that, Pacquiao didn't jump all that much in recent times. Not physically at least. When fighting at 130, he'd rehydrate to over 140 if I recall right. So he was fighting in a lower division than his natural weight would warrant. He did grow during his earlier career, but I'd say it was just gradual and came naturally. And forcefully because he couldn't make weight anymore.
And fight night weight? Both tops off around 150, and PBF supposedly has even gone higher - as much as mid 150s. If anything Pac has shown gradual weight gain, especially if you compare his weight and body during fight night. Where PBF "jumped" from 135 to 147. The weight issue is really the weakest argument for the whole PEDs thing, especially when considering that PEDs he supposed to be taking.
Yup, there was someone who posted all of the HBO onscreen weights on fight night and Pacman has been rehydrating to around 144-148 for the last 4-5 years. Even at 130, he would rehydrate around 12-15 lbs.
Fight night weights have little relevance, as most fighter put on weight after weighing in....... Most fighter put those extra pounds on after weighing in and when they rise and come to a weight where they are no longer putting on that extra weight overnight, they're not as effective because all of a sudden they're not putting on that extra weight but their opponet is. Erik Morales always dehyrated to make weight in his prime, even more so than Pacquiao, the difference is that Morales was less dominant with each weight climb and with Pacquiao, the dominance has'nt diminished and may even have increased. Marquez and MAB as well.....both put on extra pounds after weighing in when they were at 126 lbs-130 lbs. Marquez officially weighed 130 lbs for the Pacquiao rematch and walked into the ring at 141 lbs...... ......the ******* logic being used in this very thread in defense of Pacquiao would say Marquez would have been better off not dehydrating to 130 lbs and have been fighitng at 140 lbs at that time.nut:nut .....and yet most people using this "Pacquiao does'nt have to cut weight anymore, thats why he's a better fighter.".....those same people would tell you Marquez cant compete against 140 pounders because he's too small. What? Your logic has been stating that he should be able to dominate at 140 lbs because he's been at that weight in the ring since his 130 lbs days.nutnut The fighter that does it with defense and skill is more likely to be sucessful at a higher weight he normally would'nt be in......... Pacquiao is'nt doing it through defense and skill, he's doing it through stamina, explosiveness, and attrition.......all things harder to retain as you move up the next divsion to fight bigger fighters.
His fight night weight has a lot of relevance as he still weighs 144-148 on fight night, basically since Morales II he has weighed the same in the ring and has just boiled down less. This bodes well for stamina, explosiveness and attrition as the body hasn't been drained of nutrients in the build upto the fight. Floyd is the same he's fighting pretty much at his natural weight not a drained weight.
Yeah but at 16 we were all skinny and jacking off 6 x a day... at 31 you're fat. What pac has put on is PURE muscle not fat. We all get fat bro... Pac did not get fat, he put on 40lbs of muscle from 106 and he retained his speed and stamina.
Why would fight night weight have little relevance? That is an indication of your natural size. And fighters drain down for a reason, to gain a size advantage. Everyone knows this. What Pacman is doing is amazing by pretty much weighing in the same weight he will be fighting at.
[/quote] So why the **** would you compare weigh in weights when everyone knows Floyd walked into the ring at his weigh-in weight? You forgot to take that into account. when pac fought elicier on the Lewis-Tyson undercard, he was 23 and weighed in at 129 when defending his 122 title after weighing at 120.5. So compare **** that makes sense.
Oscar over-drained, you could tell by looking at him. He was gaunt, skeletal and really not looking like a man about to have a fight.
