You might try reading the rest of my post and not just the opening sentence! ........and the part about what Pac is doing being amazing because he is now weighing pretty much at the weight he will be fighting at.........others with Pacquiao's style have tried that and it turned out not to be as effective as when they had the size advantage. You cant name me one fighter from the past that has jumped more than 3 weight classes that was as dominant past that 3rd weight class than he was prior. Not a one.
I've put on 33 lbs since I was 16, and I'm still fit, it was just a gradual change in body shape. It is completely within the realms of possibility that a professional athelete could put on the same amount of muscle over the course of 15 years. It's very rare that I totally dismiss one side of an argument, but as far as I'm concerned, anyone who really debates this either has an agenda, is a troll, or is just flat out stupid.
You go on to talk some drivel about how fighters putting weight on is good for them, probably is that the losing weight is equally as bad for them. Marquez was example, what does he weigh on fight night? I'd assume it's not more than 139lbs but I'm probably wrong, he'd probably be competitive against the slower 140 fighters but the likes of Khan have the reach, speed and natural size to be better. Remember JMM isn't a big 135 fighter and isn't still a youngster. Guys like Khan and Bradley will be cutting weight and "getting away with it" like a younger Manny did, because at their age it's easier than it is for guys in their 30's a la Cotto, Margarito and Oscar.
......dont just hold the pendulum there, its not just about weight gain for PED users. ......PED's are about increasing workrate, activity and stamina, all while not losing much in quickness and speed. If you could fight 3 rounds full tilt, full quickness, speed, power and explosiveness without hitting a wall and totally gassing........ ......you might put yourself on a PED regimen and find you can do the same thing, but only this time its taking you much longer to hit that wall of fatigue. This logic is something the ******* does'nt want to put into the equation. PED's is not just about mass.
Which PEDS are you accusing him of here? Most seem to be linked to long term stamina damage. Though you seem to be jumping the gun, fighters like Armstrong went full tilt for rounds, Stansol did as well when he was young, Calzaghe did....are you accusing each of those to be on PEDS?
On my drivers license (I was 17) I weighed 145. I'm now 25, and weigh 180, and have abou 9% body fat. So 8 years, and 35 pds....Really not that crazy. Between growing NATURALLY, and working out you can gain 7 to 10 pounds a year MUSCLE.
[/QUOTE] Hey Divac, did Pacquiao gain 17 lbs as in 165 on fight night? you keep on saying pacquiao gain 17 lbs past the age of 30 when Pacquiao was always at the range of 140-148 lbs when fighting as fw-sfw. what you just stated are weigh in weights! you didn't show the fight night weights man, Pacquiao's been weighing almost/near the same range 140-148 lbs. He never weighed above 150+ on fight night, compared to other fighters where they gain 15+ lbs overnight. Based on your logic, every fighter including JMM are PED users, at 130 lbs no man will weigh 130 lbs on fight night, they will keep gaining weight overnight, keep that always in mind. unless we have the same day weigh in.
Ahh, the mythical superPED. Invented in a deep underground military base and only Pacquiao was able to use this.
