Well they dont have to see them fight. They are a product of their generation because most of them are flat out brawlers. Call it nostalgia or whatever but look at a guy like Wilde, Hes probly regarded the best flyweight ever but I can see finito schooling that style and Finitos nowhere close. Benny Leonard, considered crafty and slick for his day, watch him on film, the guy doesnt even put his hands up and comes in far more recklessly than PAc.

Dempsey is an exception because hes an unstoppable force and a savage, a truly unique fighter. I rank him very high.

As for Duran, sure he beat Leonard as a LW but he was stocky and had the body of a WW as was proven when he had some success even at MW. I give you the LW record, Mamby, De Jesus, Buchanan, those were good names. But Id honestly be more impressed with MAnny beating Floyd just because Floyd is can fight not to lose. A harder style to solve than SRL.

Well I think SRL is on a whole different level than Floyd is..so we're going to have to disagree on that. Floyd's a great fighter from 130 up to say 140, but he's certainly not an ATG welterweight by any means, and SRL most certainly is. At least in my opinion there would be a huge power difference between the two. So to me, there's no way a win over Floyd would equate to Duran's win over SRL, which some, (not me btw) have called the greatest feat in boxing history. SRL went on to beat Hearns and Hagler, I can't imagine Floyd coming close to duplicating that kind of success under any circumstances. Hagler's far and away better than any middleweight fighting today.

I agree that SRL is a greater fighter and that clear. But the key here is which one is harder to beat. Thats same Duran would have never goaded Floyd to fight like Leonard. Look, Floyd will beat you while potshotting while Ray is one of the greatest offensive fighters in history.

H2H Ray would beat Floyd but he is a bigger/stronger man who can overhelm Floyd. Duran vs. Floyd is a toss up for me and since Pacs even smaller than Duran, him beating Floyd (while not possesing Durans boxing ability) would be a monumental achievement.

If he beat both Martinez and FMJ, most STILL won't give him top 5. Neither would I, actually, but definitely top 10.

He needs to beat Mayweather to crack the top 10 never mind top 5 & that is a task that I feel is beyond him but I will be the 1st to give him his due if he manages it.

    You mentioned 8 floyd oponnesnt
no Gatti no Hernendez no Castillo no Corrales

so Floyd 5 Manny 7 or 6 ok margarito maybe no

  7. If Pac finishes his career by beating Floyd, Martinez, Berto/Alexander/Bradley/Khan/Maidana, and JMM, I'm ready to call him the GOAT. He's Top 10 at the moment.

If he beats Floyd at 147lbs and Martinez at 154lbs I will probably agree with you. If he doesn't fight Floyd and beats Martinez at 150lbs as he said he wants to, then I won't agree with you at all.

Pacquiao beating Floyd would be one of the greatest wins in the history of the sport, bar none.

I dont know why people dispute this. Floyd love him or hate him (I cant stand him) is quite possibly the hardest fighter to beat. He can fight not to lose and beat you clear. Hes not going to rearrange your face but thats not the point. And with Pacs style, this is Mt. Everest,

Exactly. For one thing, Floyd is slightly bigger than Pacquiao. For another, much more important thing, I think Floyd has the style to make a **** out of Pacquiao in there. I think he'll be able to win rounds big against Pacquiao since Pacquiao often lunges and Floyd is such a cat when it comes to reflex fighting.

So, when you take Floyd having the style to really dominate Pacquiao combined with the fact that Floyd also holds a size advantage even if only slightly... it truly is a mountain to climb for Pacquiao.

If Pacquiao wins that, he's Top 10 for me all-time... no questions asked.

If we're now talking about who would win between a prime Duran and a prime Floyd, I'd pick Duran without hesitation. One thing Duran would do, that hasn't yet been done by Floyd's opponents, is that he would make him fight. Not run, not pot shot, but actually fight. And Duran is the best infighter of the bunch, his infighting defensive is better than Pac's and on par with Floyd's, as he's an expert and staying in the pocket, making you miss and countering..Floyd's never fought anyone who could apply constant pressure on him the way Duran would.

Yes if Pac won, I think that would put he pretty close in the top 10 in my books too, but I don't think that this is the same mountain Duran over came under any circumstances. It would be a great win, but it's definately doable, the main focus would be to force Floyd to fight on the inside and wail away at the body. Easier said than done, but it's certainly within Pac's skill set to do this.

The reason I would put Pacquiao beating Floyd on a level with or around the level of Duran over Leonard is that at the time Leonard lost to Duran, he believed that he could just steamroll anyone and slug it out with anyone. Losing to Duran when he did was the best thing that ever happened to Leonard. He learned a great lesson and built off of that. He learned that there's a time to box and a time to fight.

So, while Leonard is a greater fighter than Floyd, he was still a young man who needed one more piece of experience before he'd be the Complete Leonard that we have come to know. Pacquiao beating Floyd right now, however, would be Pacquiao beating a guy who is fully experienced, undefeated, and has the physical tools left to execute at the highest level.

Overall, I think you can consider them to be comparable wins (assuming, of course, that Pacquiao beats Floyd - which I don't think he will).
