Pacdbest Take on Soto-Guzman. I smell an Upset!!!!

There are a couple of things stacked against Joan:

• his age
• his lack of activity
• his ballooning weight in between fights
• his macho temperament which leads him into trouble
• his relative lack of punching power at this weight
• not implementing the winning strategy
• brawling not boxing
• allowing opponents to hit him at will because he trusts his chin so much

But, however good Soto proves to be on the night, if Guzman is the real deal, as many people think he is, and if he is well prepared, as he must surely be in the most important fight of his life, and if he wants it as much as he should, given that it is his last chance, he WILL win.

I predict Guzman, with all the faults and questionmarks hovering over him, will win UD 116-112 - which is what I predicted for the Calzghe v. Kessler fight, incidentally.:yep

Guzman. hes a very natural fighter. I see Guzman landing a lot of big overhand rights..Guzman is tough... total scores in rounds i see...about 8-4 for guzman with most of them close enough to go to the other possibly..

I have the same analysis as you except I took 1 thing into equation that you didnt. Guzman is now training with mayweather Senior...Guzman's style is made for Mayweather training. I think Senior will tighten up his defense greatly meaning he will get hit alot less and will adjust style, combined with his chin, I see a somewhat close but clear UD to Guzman.

 

Pac has 11 world champions calling him out. A few who will make him more money and are bigger names on his resume...how can he be ducking him? Thats like saying Calzaghe is ducking woods if he chooses to fight Hopkins or Dawson.

 

Guzman, massively underratd fighter.

I read in the other thread. Not sure if it's in this site that there are over six fighters wanting to fight pac.

So far based on the media reports, JMM camp is doing well in its negoitation with the pacman camp! TOO bad the rest of the fighters will have to wait!

If he makes excuses, screw him! He is talented enough to win hands down, whatever Soto brings to the table. If he fails, he was no winner in the first place! I will give him the benefit of the doubt though - he SEEMS a winner!:yep

 

That is all well and good...but has Pacman fought the best and most dangerous since Guzman was on the cards?

They have both been Champs in the same division since 2002! Granted, Pac has only fought only 14 fights in 6 years since they both became Champs...but shouldn't Joan have been one of them?

Or, if, Guzman beats Soto, maintaining and strengthening his claim to the third place in Pac's division, don't you think Pac should consider fighting Guzman after JMM, before considering the other 9 World Champs?
