I guess not all forum members are aware of such nuances of that era of boxing, so I'll explain it further.

Listing McFarland's and Gibbons' weights as 147 for that bout would be incorrect. The beam of the scales was fixed at the agreed weight limit. First one, then the other boxer stepped on the scales. If the beam didn't move, then obviously the fighter weighed not more than that weight, but it doesn't mean his weight was that number/figure. The beam wasn't moved to find out exact weight, the fighter could weigh 145 pounds or 146 3/4 or 147 exactly, we couldn't know that without moving the beam, and the fighters/managers could forbid that, as the point of the weigh-in was to make sure both fighters were within weight limit (if they weighed more they could lose a money deposit or the boxer could refuse to fight such heavier opponent completely or they could ignore the opponent being overweight, as Gibbons had done in one of his bouts in 1914 or 1915, too lazy to look up which fight exactly), not to find out exact weights.

So if the boxrec editors change it to 147 after all, that'd be incorrect information.

Ok so now you are back to admitting you that you entered those weights after denying it and your excuse is that “because some other editors enter faulty anecdotal weights its ok for me to because it suits my agenda.” Got it. Two wrongs dont make a right. Boxrec is full of bad information. The problem is when its pointed out and the editor cant admit he made the mistake or rather that he purposely obfuscated the facts. Good luck on your history of bareknuckle boxing. I cant wait to see how you warp that.

Listen, I don't want to get myself in trouble but I hear the owner of the site got a blister when he rubbed bog-myrtle on his-...never mind. I don't want to get in trouble for gossiping about these people. It's a long story. I would have to explain how I heard this and it's not worth it. But that's the kind of people we're dealing with, here. They don't want that smoke from us here.

But, as usual, no actual quote where I supposedly denied entering those weights, would be given. Strawman.
