I guess it's because some argue that Hopkins beat Calzaghe, and he absolutely dominated Pavlik. Whereas some argue Marquez beat Pacquiao, and if he loses to Oscar, it will likely be by KO.

I have no idea why any objective person would pick Calzaghe over Margarito.

Margarito impressively beat two prime title-holders in the best division in boxing. He dominated Cintron, and impressively stopped the previously undefeated Cotto, who was also ranked in the top 10 P4P.

Calzaghe wasn't impressive in his win against Hopkins, and Jones hasn't done anything impressive since 2003. Vic is more deserving than Calzaghe as well.

Fighter of the Year should be about quality of wins and performance, not simply the name value of the guys you beat.

I believe Margarito should get the nod unless Pac pulls off an upset.

Pac has to do a lot more than beating JMM for his 4th division belt and Diaz for his 5th. Joe only has to beat a washed up Great in Roy Jones, jr. and is a shoe in after Pac gets beat by a natural light middleweight. Terrific.

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it to their boss if he beats pac."The golden boy does it again!"

Calzaghe ? LOL - Barely beat (if even beat ) a 43 year old Hopkins, and the Jones fight shouldn't even count.

Margarito if Paq loses. Margarito Dominated a top 10 welterweight in great fashion... and he knocked out a young top p4p champion... NO WAY does fighter of the year go to that welsh slapper

If Pac loses to DLH, then Margarito HAS to be Fighter of the Year NO DOUBT. Its not that hard to figure it out. He has more quality wins than anybody who fought this year, including Joe Calzaghe.

If pac wins, then yes obviously he takes it away

If not, its the margarito train.

Although vic darchynian deserves some cred.
