Hi ppl I'm a first time poster here at esb, been looking atvtheae forums a while and finally thought I'd post something here.

Do you think pacman and particulary freddie roach have benefited from the initial setback of the fight being cancelled and resulting in mayweather fighting mosley. I say this because mayweather performance was unprecidented to freddie ie making that comment about him running away all night. But now freddie will almost certainly include an fight plan of an offencive mayweather for pacman.

Freddie will consider an offensive maywether style that I dint think he wouldve considered otherwise. Thoughts?

    Thnx

If they go in there with a game plan there not going to win so it does not really matter. Pac has that punchers chance and that's what make it exciting cause everyone know mayweather is by far the better boxer.

i think mayweather switched it up on Roach, he proved he versatile and can fight different styles. Pac has one effective style. If that don't work there no plan B.

Im not sure if roach knows what to expect in regards to the style mayweather would adopt for the fight. If he gets it wrong it could be the biggest training mistake in his career.

    That's actually a good point.

Before the Mosley fight most people considered Mayweather to only fight one way - on the back foot. Especially since he has moved up in weight. I think a lot of people thought Mayweather was not that physically strong and could not be that effective if he stood his ground against a true welter weight.

Now Roach and future opponents know that Mayweather is quite physically strong at WW and can stand his ground. Whilst this makes defeating Mayweather an even more daunting task at least opponents know of this extra weapon in Floyd's arsenal and will not go into a fight with him thinking they can just rough him up.

    Good Thread.

I think the more information Roach has about Floyd the better plan he can devise to win. But its not like we never he had strong offense in the first place. Lets look at his younger days. He just didnt feel he needed to use it until now.

The thing is Floyd has so many different styles that he can use that he might even consider mixing up different styles each round, throwing Pac off even more.

I cant see Pac beating him if being totally honest which is why i dont think the fight will happen.

yeh that's exactly wat I was getting at. It'll make future opponents of mayweather more wary when goin into a fight.

Im not sure if it will benefit them a whole lot if im honest. Sure he did come forward a lot more in the SSM fight, but Roach would devise more than 1 gameplan for Manny anyway.

Depends, I see it like this...
How great would it have been to watch the Pac who came out against Clottey Vs. The Mayweather that came out against Mosley.

In other words, Both camps will now come out different if/when they do fight.
Both camps will benefit from watching each other's last fight.

Would have been something to have watched them go at each other w/OG gameplans @ their first date.

I think Pacquiao and Roach had there best chance of beating Mayweather if negotiations had succeeded first time round. The gameplan has become that bit more complicated now...Roach will have been looking at Mayweather's bouts since his move up to 147-154lbs and seen a similar pattern in each bout.
However, last time out we seen a very different Mayweather...one we havn't seen for a good few years. Roach won't know which one is going to show up. I always stated that I thought Mayweather was going to lose the early rounds against Pacquiao because he will have to adjust to the speed. Now though, I think Mayweather is going to have Pacquiao and Roach thinking from round 1 onwards...it may be upto Pacquiao to try and adjust during the 12 rounds.
