Just rewatched the Marquez/Pacman fight. Marquez drilled him all night with sick straight right hands and he took them well. If Marquez hit anyone else with those shots it's a rap.

I think his chin is the most under rated part of his game.

Manny and underrated aren't 2 words I associate with one another. That guy is revered with seemingly no boundaries.

I never said he was overrated, just that he surely isn't underrated. By anybody, including myself.

marquez was not fully turning over his punches, the ones referring to in the original post. but, it should be noted, he was not looking for the knockout because that would have been playing utterly--and unwisely--into pacquiao's hands. the more of a chessmatch any fight between pacman and marquez is, the more marquez can highlight his accurate counters and smart jabbing and highlight, too, pacquiao's still notable technical issues--such as leaning away from hooks while dropping his hands to wind up for the counter and ,differently, obstructing his peripheral lines of sight with his gloves by covering too much the forehead and not enough the chin--assuming, in error, that his elbows will protect the chin, but anyone who has been watching fights for long enough has seen guys get ko'd that way who would have been better of getting simply knocked down after losing their balance from a shot that pops off the top of the noggin.

during these flush shots referred to in the original post, marquez controlled the allocations of his committed body weight carefully. during the punches in question marquez threw some of the force that might have been otherwise following the punch into his own center of gravity as the punch crossed mid-body to provide marquez with the time and balance left after those punches to evade pacquiao's retaliatory straight lefts by either leaning or toggling side-to-side and, eventually circling out to get back to center ring. pacquiao has a pretty good chin, i'll give him that, but really his chin is spared any real testing these days by the size of his walloping firepower and the even bigger mythology built around it that gets guys to lay off their punches and stick with the smart money of trying to outbox, outwork and outhustle pacman, who will, in my opinion, never be a very fluid, technical boxer. pacman moves like he's waiting to plant those feet and drop his man, that's the way with punchers, it's not an insult, just a reality.

No one underrates him you little Pacmanian *****. Everyone recognizes how great a fighter he is and no one takes that away from him. If anything guys like you overrate him and lift him up to almost mythical status. Clown!....

.... and yes he does have a very sturdy chin. I was actually thinking just the other day how he's been going against so many top fighters in a row who also happen to be good punchers and despite landing numerous hard blows in each of their fights, they haven't even been able to score a single knockdown of Pac. Now that's an impressive chin baby.

exactly pac wins over diaz and delahoya where he completely dominated 2 boxers who are bigger than him and still he doesn't get credit.

Haters are fast to make the diaz is a bum excuse or delahoya weight drain excuse instead of praising pacman for fighting a brilliant fight. I mean the way he executed vs delahoya was awesome. Before oscar can throw a punch he was out of the way.

Pac was a lightweight who had to go up 2 weight class to fight oscar who was a jr middleweight. yes he was bigger, pac weight more on fight night but oscar still had the height-reach and power advantage. Oscar could have ended that fight with one left hook but didn't get a chance to.

Oscar was lighter... but if what you mean by that is that he ain't bigger than pac then you're blind.
