No I'm not mad at you and personally i don't care what manny does with his life. It's what he does in the ring that i care about. However you're too diplomatic when it comes to his critics. I understand you don't like arguing, but sometimes you're giving them too much free pass.

And you rarely see me post praises for him. The TS is just expressing his admiration, like that is a crime. Cautioning him like he's a leper when he's just expressing his views.....if he's not afraid to tell it like it is then let him. There are more that enough reasonable posters here that Selfkill, Finito and the likes.

I've grown tired of trying to make the "haters" change their minds and convince them to support Pacquiao and not dislike him and his fans so much.

If they dont like him, then they dont like him. I dont care anymore.

Right now, I try in my own little way, to defend and protect the Pacquiao fans here from "*******" bashers and "haters".

Since the threadstarter's a newbie, I warned him about it. Because if he gets bashed too hard, he may never come back here again.

I never really warn the older, more senior Pacquiao fans here.

try as we might discourage or diss the thread starter, we cannot deny the impact of manny on the social fabric, not just in philippine soceity, but in asia as well.

This will be a guy whose life and career will be examined for decades to come for the sheer impact that he had in the sport. He is becoming a global brand, much bigger than floyd i think.

props for the TS who pointed this out, especially coming from an englishman. Pac's impact is not just in terms of economic benefit for him but for our nation as well.

and these are things that are difficult to quantify. :good

The fanatical nuthugs and the virulent haters make any Pac discussion vomit-inducing. (This alone points to the undeniable fact that Pac had always been special. ATG's had and will always have a polarizing effect on peeps...)

Let's not get out of hand.
(Except in the PI, I guess this statement is true)

its not just in the PI, while its immediate effects are felt here.

    1. pacman economic effect transcends the philippines and opened the doors for more asian fighters going to the US. filipino and other fighters.

    2. the US market now looks beyond its borders to find truly great fighters and not be deluded that its own crop are the best in the world.

    3. pac has crossover appeal, that even fellow athletes are in awe of this man, not to mention hollywood celebreties.

    4. pac is the first fighter that i can think of that nike is sponsoring. i disctinctly do not remember pbf or any other fighter having this achievement.

I love Floyd, but not even he is looked at as an icon-yet. If Floyd is not seen as an icon, neither is PAc. Federer is not even on those guys level that you named. We don't hear about anything Pac does unless we watch 24/7. Ali, Jordan, and Woods, are icons known around the world. The only way Pac can become an icon to the world is if he beats Floyd.

Manny: "I put on the wrong socks"
Interviewer: "You sure it wasn't because he was a better boxer?"
Manny: "I shall wear my favorite socks in the rematch"
    Interviewer: "Okay, Manny Goodluck"
    Manny being pulled away*
    Manny: "...socks"

Even Jesus who seems like a god to many at present had a lot of haters before at the peak of his career.

The way I see it, Pac is great in human standards because he has overcome quite a great deal of opposition inside and outside the ring. Inspite of being a one-dimensional-flawed-fighter, he was able to remain competitive against fighters considered much better than him, never mind beating them. Inspite of coming from one of the poorest parts of a third world country such as the Philippines, in other words, someone destined to be a worthless nobody, he was able to command respect from the the richest, most famous and influential personalities at present at the age of 30, (more or less the same age Jesus was just starting to become famous during his time, according to most religious scholars.)

But what really amazes me are the people in these kinds of forums who not just say Pac is not exceptional but goes further by saying that his best wins are against over the hill and shot fighters.
