They did what they set out to accomplish.

"Mayweather, who was informed of Pacquiao's reluctance shortly after Schaefer received word of the impasse, feels Pacquiao has to explain himself immediately or be faced with accusations from the media and the public regarding his own status as a clean and drug free athlete."

MLB knew EXACTLY what was going on and the players were on steroids. The "steroid era" revived baseball and made everybody a shitload of money. Maybe that is why the boxing commissions don't want to implement more stringent policies also, just food for thought. I'm speaking in general and not just this fight specific. If a precedent is set here that leads to a number of top boxers getting caught doping or forced to go ahead without the drugs that made them what they are the already "struggling" sport may be driven into it's grave for good.

And no matter who's side you are on, the average/casual boxing fan is believing the Mayweathers. 2 guys came up to me at a bar over the weekend and were talking about us all going to vegas the 13th and both of them said that "yeah I heard the fight may be off, Pacquiao is on steroids or some ****? that's ****ed up"

Yes. You're right. I'm not talking about the MLB establishment. They knew for decades. I'm talking about the public at large. This wasn't a big issue until BALCO, and baseball wanted to keep it that way. The Feds just wouldn't let them.

What I'm saying is that we're all talking about PEDs now because of Floyd and Golden Boy's sklillfull public relations maneuvering for this fight. The yhave literally backed Pacquiao and Arum into a very uncomfortable corner. If this was 2004, this wouldn't be a hot issue, and this tactic wouldn't have played. It all goes to my unsubstantiated speculation, for purposes of this discussion, that Floyd may be clean of PEDs now, because he saw how Mosely got caught, but that he didn't have anything to fear back in 2004, 2005 because this was a non-issue as far a pro-boxing was concerned, so maybe he was juicing as well as Mosely and others then. If Arum can find some evidence of that (regardless of how solid it is), then maybe he can get some public relations leverage against Floyd and Golden Boy to salvage his fighter's standing in this situation.

this would be "your" natural conclusion. not the rest of the world. i say it is ignorant to make any conclusions without any real proof.

in my view, Pac has been abiding by the NSAC rules for years and has not given any reason for anyone to accuse him of such juicing. he has fought the fights that many fans wanted to see...win or lose he owned up to the results and was a gentleman athlete.

so let the truth come out, when it does...then everyone can say they were right or wrong. all these posts about some here that they know Pac is juicing is purely unfounded...many of which i am finding to be borderline prejudice.

if those who feel that the NSAC protocols are insufficient, tough, that is the current system that boxing is following. none of us can change it. NSAC will have to make that decision.

Pac sticking to his guns is admirable, but i can see why some fans or haters are saying that he is not helping himself in the PR battle. but if he feels that he would rather be right on his own terms than bonding over to PBF and Goldenboy, then that is OK by me too.

i say, cut this sh!t out and just fight. let's see who is the better fighter in the ring.

If that is the case and the reason for this "random" blood tests was for fair play and sportsmanship, they would have filed their request with the commission.

I agree that this would benefit all fights in Nevada and not just for this fight.

The commission is composed of 5 people that decide on what to implement, and they also have a medical board.

If this is for the good of the sport then Schaefer should go through with the request with or without this fight.

No it's not PIMP ! Urine tests in today's world are on par with blood tests. Any credible person doing tests that has the technology and methods doing both will agree.

The main difference is that the quality of blood samples last longer. With urine, there's no waisting time and you can't re-do a proper test later on to re-confirm with a quality sample as opposed to blood which remains good quality longer through time.

    Tarnish his legacy?, how?

Because a POSSIBLE OPPONENT's team members called him a cheater with no proof whatsoever?

I am still having trouble believing that a fight of this magnitude could be potentially ruined by something so easily resolvable.

I am a huge fan of Pac, but this is looking terrible. If he doesn't take the tests, I will always wonder if he was juicing.
