Hi guys, I decided to score the fight and I have to tell you that I had to give it to Pacman. :scaredas: JMM had a few close rounds, but you had to score it for Pacman for "Ring-Generalship"... My scorecard was: 115-114 Pacqiaou. Pacman had won the 12th round due to JMM's latency, and I had the tenth round EVEN. If JMM had come out slugging in the 12th round and had been a little more convincing in the 10th round, he would have won this fight. If he would have won any of the last three rounds convincingly, he would have drawn at the very least. Beristain should have never told JMM that he was winning the fight. At around the 10th he was telling JMM that he was ok, to box, and not press the fight. Not good. Round by round: Pac- Rd's 1,2,4,9,10, (even),11 and 12. JMM- Rd's 3,5,6,7,8, and 10 (even). How did you see it?
btw: I watched the replay in a sound-proof room, with stobe lights, double paned sound proof and shatter proof glass with smoke tints, with the computer off and with headphones on to maximize the sound. So, don't ask me what fight I was watching and how.... rack off!
I gave Marquez the edge on ring generalship, it was the most tactical fight of the trilogy. Seemed to me Marquez controled the pace.
LOL... and Pac had the center of the ring and walked Marquez around from corner to corner the entire fight? Marquez got some counter-punches in, but he was far from being the chief in the ring. If Marquez would have just won round 10 and either round's 11 or 12, he would have won this fight. Very close fight. He also gave away round two when he didn't have to.
I had the same score. I thought Pac looked distracted and reckless, but he was also picking off alot of shots. Juan's face showed the signs of alot of punchs landing, while Manny really only had the cut on his lip and the head butt. I could see where the close rounds you could give it to Juan just because he didnt get knocked out like expected, and he stood his ground. But I never saw him press the action and have Pac on his back foot trying to get away. If Marquez would have not laid back those last couple of rounds he would have won. I liken it to Delahoya letting up against Trinidad.
pac rounds: 1, 3, 6 (clear), 9, 10, and 12 jmm rounds: 2, 5 (clear), 8, and 11 even rounds: 4 and 7 4, 7, and 9 to me are the toughest to score pac surprisingly had many successful right counters as well
I didn't want to say, THAT, in bold, because the DLH vs Trinidad fight was a DLH robbery as he won almost every meaningful round except for the 12th where he ran- and the 12th Trinidad did nothing to win it either. But, I agree that Marquez lost this fight on that 10th and 12th round latency. He also had a round 2, in my opinion, that was his to take but he backed off and allowed Manny to control the center of the ring after he had connected with some good shots!
Marquez had Ring generalship. Defense. Clean effective punching. He nullified Pac's aggression. If you give Pac every close round truly the best you can get is 116-112 Marquez.
I disagree, Marquez was dictating the pace of the fight, he was circling to his left and demonstrated superb footwork around the ring...Pacquiao was ineffective with his aggression and has no concept of how to cut off the ring, you figure Roach would teach him that by now. He also kept his lead foot on the inside of Marquez lead foot--a big no-no to do. Ring Generalship--JMM
i had it 114 to 114.to me the fight was the tightest fight i have ever seen, very hard to score.you have to remember that judges are told not to give even rounds and to have more than two even rounds questions your skills.jmm didnt do enough to win and nacho telling jmm he was winning the fight and had it in the bag after the tenth was insane and cost jmm the fight.roach told pac to go for the ko even in the last round.now marquez and his camp are just crying,if you think you got robbed then blame yourself you told your fighter to stay away he had the fight won.
you can talk about footwork and ring generalship all you want but in the end marquez face was beat up and pacs wasnt.
