With his big reach Margarito's straight rights are more important for him in this fight than that big left uppercut-hook thing he throws.

Hes 1/8 on which seems extremely short but given that they both have Bob Arum as promoter it makes me think Margarito wouldnt have been allowed anywhere near him if he really did have a chance of winning.

I think most of us have accepted that Pac/Floyd will never happen but it would be a huge anti climax to the whole saga if Pac were to lose.

Well, firstly Margarito doesn't really have that good of a straight right. Secondly to catch Pacquiao with that said straight right, you need a proper introduction i.e a jab as set up, which Margarito doesn't have, or you need to be a 'waiter' and catch Manny with it when he's darting in, Margarito is not exactly Marquez in the department...and thirdly, Pacquiao is much more susceptible to that uppercut, particularly the way Margarito throws it, with such deception and underrated quick release. He can also double it up as a left hook to the body and then bring it up.

I saw Clottey landing with it alot when he actually did throw anything. Morales hit him with it alot too if I remember correctly.

Morales and Clottey could wait, counter punch him and had a jab. Margarito will constantly be stalking and can't land it effectively that way.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the situation that has been shown on 24/7.

It is certainly a concern if Pacquiao is being stopped during training to take political phone calls and Roach reminding him "what his job is" "p4p best" during mitt work, then you look over at Margarito's camp who is training like a beast.

It is a legitimate fight for Pacquiao, his toughest yet imho. Providing he has put the work in training then I feel he wins this with footwork and quick combos. He can't afford to stand still like he did on occasions against Cotto and Clottey and take a few punches because Margarito why come forward all night, so its vital he stays off the ropes.

Does Pacquiao have the power to discourage or stop Margarito? I think he may have, I don't think it will be a clean KO, perhaps an accumulation of punches if he has Margarito going.

Be assured, should Pacquiao knock out Margarito we can forget about a fight with Pacquiao-Mayweather.

I agree, I don't think Floyd will take the fight if Pacquiao completely destroys and airs out Margarito. However expect the fight to be made if Pacquiao struggles and comes through a 'life and death' war where he's all busted up.

Btw, please don't put too much stock in these 30 mins commercials. Never pick a fight based on stuff like interviews and countdown shows, particularly when it's sole purpose is to hype the fight and get people to buy the PPV. All the concrete (no pun intended) stuff we've got are the X's and O's (fight game, strenths/weaknessess, styles etc) of both fighters.

margarito has been very inactive so not sure how much help the 3lbs will make:think. i think pac was just testing clottey and allowing him to get through with a few. imho, pac is his own downfall in this fight IF he decides to play abit and stand and trade, but i doubt this very much:blurp

pac will dart in and out and the ref will stop the cheating fooker and the last third.

    this fight wont be close:bbb

his last fight is at 154 and think he's had a couple of fights at that weight. most of his career was at 147 and this fight is a 150 catchweight fight

I don't even think that break would've done him much harm tbh. He's not a reaction/sharpness based fighter, plus he's already had a fight inbetween to shake off any cobwebs.

On the weight, Nobody would've complained if they made the fight at 147. But in my opinion they've done him a favor by giving away those 3lbs. Which may not seem much, but could make a big difference to in performance. You could already see it in his training as he's putting on a lot of bulk.
