In this corner we have the pride of the Philippines Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and in this corner we have the man who flashes the most cash, Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather Jr. Who would have thought? Boxing's new heavyweights don't even fight in that division.

In what is expected to become the highest pay per view selling event in boxing history, Mayweather Jr., vs. Pacquiao have awoken mainstream boxing fans in America. It all started with Goldenboy's genius marketing with Marquez vs. Mayweather Jr., ppv card; Goldenboy promotions took it to the main stream media like never before by marketing the fight in movie theaters across America; the result, an instant success with 1 million plus pay per view sales in that promotion.

We now move on to Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Pacquiao an event which received more coverage than I had seen in the past few years. It was billed as a historic event with Manny Pacquiao looking for his 7th title in different weight divisions and boy did it live up to the hype. Manny Pacquiao dismantled Miguel Cotto and made it look easy to defeat the Caguas native.

1.2 million sales later and we had pay per view history with two separate million plus pay per views in one single year. Although the number may not see as much; we have to understand that we are undergoing a deep recession in the United States and in light of it; these numbers are insane. Boxing fans have been dreaming for this very moment in boxing; a moment where we are finally featured on ESPN articles and live shows.

Well, the hardcore fans want it; mainstream America wants is and oddly enough Mayweather Jr., wants it for May 1st, but it is Manny Pacquiao who has to delay this titanic clash to run for congress in his country. Mayweather Jr., will fight the winner of Berto vs Mosley in which promises to be an exciting match up; and Pacquiao will most likely fight for his so-called 8th title versus Foreman at 154 (Most Likely Catchweight) which in reality doesn't make it his 8th title because he wouldn't be fighting at the 154 mark, just as he didn't fight at 147 for Cotto's championship.

It is time for these two fighters to deliver the fight mainstream America wants to watch. Until the mega fight is signed, stay tuned for more updates on the negotiations here at boxingchaos.com

Nice article. 24/7 seems to be a huge success in bringing in new fans and getting the casual fans excited. Oh, and to the topic's question: no.

If boxing didn't have fans who live in a fantasy world like you (who seems to like the actor terry bollea), perhaps we'd have a league that required a playoff.

Roach tried his best to get Void to fight right after Pac knocked Hatton out in the second round, but Void refused to fight Pac, so Pac fought Cotto.
