if you're a champ, you put your title on the line. The fight was fought within the WW limit. If Cotto wants he can come in over the agreed catchweight and defend his title at 146 or 147 and forfeit a portion of his purse to the smaller opponent who will be even more disadvantaged. Yet that would not have been smart on his part since he was able to make 145lbs quite comfortably.

You put the title on the line, it makes the fight bigger and helps the promotion. That's just common sense.

There has been NOTHING to suggest there's truth. Not outside the ring, not in his performance. Nothing but assumption.

 

it didn't give Pac an advantage, it just took away a little bit of advantage from Cotto. That's the whole point of the catchweight. Pacquiao is sacrificing by moving up in weight, so the idea is to make Cotto sacrifice by moving down a little.

Wrong, Cotto is supposed to weigh what HE agreed to. That's the whole jist of it. There has NEVER been anythbing even CLOSE to a rule that says a title fight needs to be at the upper limit of the division.

 

if he wants to, he can weigh in at 147 and pay the purse penalty. Sounds fair to me. I don't think he would get stripped as long as he stays within the 147 limit.

 

yeah they made things fair for pacquiao, instead of the full 147lb limit , which would have made things not fair for him.

theres no rule where every fight needs to be fair, if u want the 147 title , fight with a 147 limit, that's fair to the bigger guy.
