i still think robinson wins at 135 but the lower the weight the better for manny. stating the obvious so i'm surprised i'm being questioned on it.

I just want some clarity on what we are getting at. I think that the degree of it being better for my Manny is ultimately insignificant as I think he is clearly beaten no matter what the weight. You do know that a lightweight Sugar Ray Robinson at the time was not viewed as an inexperienced unkown by his peers right? You do know this? He was seen as a phenomenon at that time, he was seen as a phenomenon/prodigy as an amateur, never mind a light weight. It's not as though he only made a name for himself when he became a welterweight contender.

    Robinson beat Henry Armstrong.
    He can beat Manny Pacquiao.

I just can`t see anyone beating SRR at prime 147, and yes that includes PBF...

I think Pacquaio gets bombed out whenever Robinson picks the pace up and gies for it, skill wise they are too far apart and it depends if Robinson carries him or not really. Being open to right hands while having a reach disadvantage against Sugar Ray Robinson means you're going to get your ass kicked pretty bad

I think Roach and Arum would stall the fight until Robinson was a middleweight, the smart move, then make him cut to welter.

Not a great match up for Pac, but there are certain points in his career where a decent version of Manny showing up could defeat a somewhat past it but decent version of Robinson showing up, and that is honestly pretty awesome when you consider where Pac started, as its pretty clear no version of Gatti would beat even the most decrepit near death Mayweather, that no version of pascal would beat Hopkins, etc.

I agree in theory but if Pac could adjust his style and crowd old Robinson like Basilio was able to do, he's only like half an inch shorter than Basilio, who was walking around just a few pounds heavier than Pac is.

I do not think Basilio would have been able to do that with the welter Robinson, but I'm just saying Robinson could be crowded by "lesser" technical fighters effectively.

In Armstrongs defence he was a shot fighter when they fought and Sugar only gave him the fight for the payday.

We're talking about the Prime WW Robinson not the 37yo past it version Basilio faced. Basilio also has a better defense than Pacquaio and a hell of a chin, fought out of a crouch and could fight at MW, could Pacquaio? Pacquaio couldn't even cut off the ring against a shot Mosley turning him, he isn't living with Robinson's movement

What adjustments do you see Pacquaio making, he'd have to be a completely different fighter and acquire new skills to become a pressure fighter. For me he doesn't do too much in terms of adjustments in his fights, he bounces in an out and lets his hands go looking to lead with his power shot, getting away with it because he's always in with slower fighters with poor technical skills

You saw what Marquez did to Pacquaio, Robinson would do the same better and hurt Pac far more doing it. I may come across as harsh but I actually pick Pacquaio over allot of fighters like Pryor and Chavez, but with Robinson he's out of his league

SRR has arguably every advantage here. I don't see what the game plan would be for PAC?

I don't think Armstrong was a shot fighter, in the year leading up to the fight he was beating Zivic, Angott and Joyce amongst others

He certainly wasn't as shot as some people make out, as you said, he beat some good fighters before and after he was beaten by SRR.

I think SRR would have always been too slick for Henry to be honest.
