Pacman was no real champ at 154. But still weight wise: cotto > Mayweather > Pacman. So Mayweather fighting Cotto at 154 is fairer than Pacman against Cotto at 154.

*****s going ape **** with damage control.

Pacquiao doesn't need Cotto, Cotto needs Pacquiao to avenge his loss. So Pacquiao must fight him at 154 lbs.?:patsch:lol: aside from the fact that Manny had already said that he won't fight above 147 div.

*****: "Pac must avenge Cotto's loss by giving in to Cotto's desired weight.":rofl

You are neglecting to mention that Oscar looked like an extra from Requiem for a Dream complete with track marks!

Nothing to do with weight. It was a negotiating tactic to show that Cotto was in charge.

So, Cotto asking for a 153 catchweight wasnt about weight :huh

He surely already showed Margo who was in charge as he got the lionshare of the purse, as well as the venue he wanted. He also threatened to pull out of the fight if Margo couldnt fight in New York.

Anyway, if that was the case, can it not be argued that Pacquiao demanding a 2lb catchweight was him pulling a smiliar tactic? I mean, he had already agreed to a 147 weight with Oscar and Clottey, so perhaps he was merely showing Cotto who was in charge by that logic?

pac fought clottey and margarito.....that said it all, they were like the most avoided fighters in rescent time and he faced and beat them. and both clottey and marga came in excellent shape.

I dont understand why people say this. Pac has had 3 catchweight fights. The first against Cotto with a 2lb change (only 2lb but still a catchweight), the next against Margo which everyone knows was a bull**** move, and as a result not many people take his LMW title seriously, and the 3rd against Marquez (at 144 IIRC). But it was the mexican who wanted a catchweight.

So, in total, he has forced his opponents to lose a grand total of 6lb, while his opponents (marquez), has brought Pac down by 3lb.

That means, in almost 60 fights, Pacquiao has drifted into the realms of catchweights twice by his own doing, and gained a total of 3lb advantage. While I dont agree with catchweights, if you take his career as a hole, it is a small footnote in the grand scheme of things

What about him? The contract was for the fight to take place at 147 was it not? While Oscar went down a few weights, he brought Manny up 2 (and he only had 1 fight at lightweight). The majority thought Oscar would be far too big, and even accused him of cherry picking Manny. It was only in highnsight that people started accusing Manny of draining Oscar, when indeed it was the golden boy who asked for the fight
