Pacman's Speed, Skills, Power and Accuracy

I would say the Cotto fight is where all of his skills shined the most. Best performance by Manny IMO.

 

Been aaaaages since I saw this. Something that surprises me is that Pac was already using some of the most polished techniques that he uses today. Morales tries to jab him and Pac leans to the side and counters with his straight-left...and he was also sneaking that counter right-hook in, too.

Years later, he uses that left counter to deal with Cotto's good jab, and he uses the right hook counter to flatten Hatton in the first round and shake Margarito. I just didn't realise he was already using that stuff before his weight jumping...

 

The ones mentioned are good, though the second Marquez fight (even though I had him losing) was a great blend of boxing skill and accurate shots thrown with speed and power.

 

true! That's one of my favorite Pac performances. But to the untrained eye it's a bad performance.

Don't know about that, how hard is it to look good when you're up against someone who blocks punches using only their face?

the only fight Pac has lost in over a decade is to Morales.

 

Pac's feints, parrying and head-movement (yes I just said that) were gravely underrated in this fight.

 

Good question, ask all the other professional fighters who all failed to beat Hatton at 140.

 

Pac does a lot of subtle moves that most people don't notice. for example at 5:27 look how he throws a lead left to the pit of the stomach of JMM and then blocks the counter right away. That's just a beautiful move man.
