Pac has big calves and those big calves are more prone to cramping. It might not be an issue when he was young but it will only get worse while he is aging. I know this because I also have big calves myself and roughly his age. I cramp when I would need to run very fast for half marathons but has not much issue when I was a bit younger. Even proper hydration could not prevent it but sometimes, salt intakes can help and calves streching before the run.
Bet Ariza would have him swimming but Pacquiao doesn't like it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqL4hnBGe6Y Roach and Pac taking the p1ss out of Ariza but Ariza knows what he is talking about trying to ensure Pac is looking after his body...what a shame. ignorance is bliss. I don't think Pac knows how to swim anyway so it would be a useless exercise. Swimming is a great way to dehydrate yourself as well if you're not carefull... Swimming is the most underrated exercise...it has so many benefits especially for older or bigger fighters. Cardio & breathing exercises whilst taking weight off your joints...
Sprints. Sprints. Sprints. Focus on regaining that muscle memory. As far as know though, he's starting to focus more on sprints anyways.
atsch I hate swimming but If I was a top level fighter NO WAY would I exclude it from my training regime
Pacquiao hates swimming. I remember watching him argue about it with Ariza. He doesn't think it does anything. I think he just hates swimming period. Though, when Mayweather and Pacquiao have been doing certain regime and are still #1 and #2, they probably feel they're doing everything right because they're at the top. Why fix what ain't broken? I do agree that it'd help though. Swimming uses and develops different muscles as well, but oh well. They're at the top of the sport, so I can't complain lol. Maybe if they were starting to really slip I'd be more tenacious about it.
You're a bit slow aren't you? The idea with swimming is to relieve pressure and impact on the joints.
