I think Canelo, Maidana, and Guerrero have more punch resistance than Pacquiao. I feel Floyd's punches will hurt Manny more than they did those 3 guys.

Of course Pac, and Floyd are both on the decline, Pac more so because of his style of his fighting style.

Pac has a young man style thats built more on speed, rather basic technical boxing skill. As Pac gets older, and his speed starts diminish, he will not be able to get out of the way of punches as he did 5 years ago, and because his style 90% offense, he will not have basic to avoid shots.

The same with Floyd, except his issue will be not being able to pull the trigger at the moment when he needs to.
But like B-hop, his skills level will still allow him to compete with top level competition, the only deference he will not be as dominate.

In all, Pac should be ready to call it a day soon after this fight, I don't see his style holding up another 2 or 3 years with out him taking excessive punishment in the process.

Pac's KO from Marquez, is the future of what to come, if he does not get out of boxing soon after this fight.

Common misconception, of all the defensive styles none is more physically demanding than the cross guard shoulder roll (Philly shell for some).

Because of its asymmetry a fighter has to have very quick feet to keep his opponent in the pocket. Slow feet and the shoulder roll do not work. Because of this it does not age as well as say a high guard.

Think Toney v. Jones. Toney was in his prime and Jones quick feet were simply too much for him. He couldn't turn with Jones. At the end of round 5 was one of the best sequences for beating the shoulder roll. Jones throws the right and acts like he is going to go to Toney's left again. Toney rolls and begins to pivot left to keep Jones in the pocket but Jones instead goes to Toney's right and unloads 2 clean left hooks to the chin as Toney is facing the wrong way.

No it was not! The should roll was invented for old fighter that had lost their legs.
The style would allow a fighter with shot legs, to be able to stand in the pocket, and defend and counter.

Roy and Tony was not a prime example! Tony lost to jones because of his arrogance and lack of preparation, for Jone speed and awkwardness.
Second Tony never lead a health life style outside the ring.

Also their is s deference between a fighter with dead legs and a out shape fighter. Tony was out of shape in his fight against Jones!

Also do you study the history of boxing or do you just like talking out your ass, as way to cover your Pac agenda?

What a load of ****. First off who was it "invented" for?

Second, I knew some forum scumbag would come in here trying t act like the 26 year old Toney was fat and out of shape.

No he wasn't you lying pack of Floyd's **** sucking ****.

What makes you think that this guy was correct. Thats all hyperbole and a lot of it is wrong.

George Benton had a fantastic shoulder roll he is arguably the guy who most invented the defense of cross guard combined with the shoulder roll. He was from Philadelphia, not detroit. It couldn't be that its called the Philly shell because of Benton and the guys who he trained in Philadelphia copying his style.
