Yes he's athletic, explosive, and gets himself into great punching position, but when it comes to cutting off the ring Pacquaio is C level at best. I say Provd is B+, and Provd couldn't cut Algieri off. I don't expect Pac to look that good trying to cut him off either.

Yes I have Pac winning, but I expect him to have problems finding Algieri and blaming it on him running.

I grade GGG an A in cutting off the ring. You never hear him cry about fighters running.

In today's world of boxing if you lack the ability to cut off the ring you just blame it on the other guy running. That's the difference between Lara v Angulo and Lara vs Canelo

So... "Pacquaio has C level footwork when it comes to... CUTTING OFF THE RING"

Whats the relevance? It's not like Pacquiao is often in a position whereby HE NEEDS to cut off the ring...

Pacquiao is a totally different fighter to Provodnikov...he won't need to cut off algieri although it might help... Watch Pacquiao Vs De La Hoya.

If Pacquiao hasn't got it in him to finish off Algieri or it ends in a close fight then he should just retire....career is going to waste anyway no matter the outcome.

atleast it's a better fight than Rios Pacquiao...Rios is useless...

Been saying this for years, Pac only looks great if he's being pressured a bunch. It is very difficult for him to come forward intelligently, I have no idea why they picked Chris. Pac will have a hard time looking good, may look bad, and at worse may have to gear up the robbery claims.

He definitely isn't as effective when his opponent's not standing in his face all night long.

And won every round, and turned Mosley into a runner, which much bigger Canelo couldn't even do.

Atleast Pacquiao knocked Mosley down and had him on retreat mode all night. Mayweather couldn't even knock Mosley down. :deal

Mayweather got tagged hard twice against Mosley who was inactive for 15 months before the Mayweather bout.

Though Pacquiao looked visibly frustrated, I would'nt put much stock on the Cotto and Mosley fights as proof that Pacquiao cant cut the ring off on an elusive fighter.
Cotto and Mosley are'nt even elusive, but in any regards those guys fought in survival mode, neither willing to put themselves out offensively.

You can be elusive and be hard to cut the ring off against, but if you dont make them pay for missing, you aint winning rounds.

Mosley and Marquez (III) made him look stupid but thats about it. Manny never really had to rely on his ability to close off the ring.
His best weapon was his ability to get close to his opponent really fast. Once he was close his speed was enough to enable him to land punches.
Angles, speed and power made sure that he did not need to cut off the ring, just get close to the opponent and its all good.

How the hell did Mosley make him look stupid? By losing every round, getting knocked down, and running away all night? Maybe it would have been a masterful performance without the KD, but with Mosley nearly putting Pac away in round 2?

He is a fighter and not a runner and good chaser. You can't blame him for opponents not wanting to fight like a man. The defensive wizardry evolved because of those who joined the sport and tasted its real essence thus boxing becoming amateurish like the Olympics and not gladiatorial
