I thought I read somewhere the winner of this fight would be lineal champ at 147. Maybe that was before Victor Ortiz crashed into the welterweight division.

Even before ortiz i'm sure berto was ranked 2nd then also. Since being ww number 1 pac has yet to defeat the number 2 guy (floyd, then berto, now ortiz)

more was put on emphasis on where were his opponents when pac fought and beat them but does anyone considered where was pac when he fought barrera, marquez and morales the first time. pac was arguably pre-prime and was essentially a one-handed fighter in all these fights and yet beat them or give them a tough fight.

now at present and looking back 3 years ago, does anyone predicted that he would be smashing all these top welterweights when he was just a super-feather?

he defeated the #2 guy at welter in cotto when he just beat the number #1 guy at jr. welter in hatton. clottey i think was about #5 when he fought him while pac was #1 or #2 at the weight.

That's how I remember it. Mosley was 1, then went inactive for a year. So after beating cotto, pac was 1. Since then number 2 has been floyd, berto and ortiz. To establish linearity he needs to beat ortiz. Then he'd be 5 division champ, from flyweight to welterweight. Fuk me that's impressive. If he could do that and knock out martinez at middleweight for a 6th division championship I think i'd class him as a definite top 5 atg, some days he'd be the goat.

As far as i'm concerned, we saw prime pac the night of the jmm rematch, number 1 and 2 p4p giving it their all, no longer a crude slugger but someone who can hang with a supreme technician. He's

nah floyd and berto were rank higher than mosley before berto got crushed by ortiz. Since floydie is on permanent vacation then they should just drop him off the rankings and put ortiz # 2.

Pac vs Ortiz would be for the linear title then.

You make some good points but JMM 1 , Barrera 1, Diaz(no way HOF), Hatton (same as Diaz), Cotto and partially Margarito I give Pac FULL credit and its 100% fair IMO, the others notably less but Pac's complete dominance over them makes it up.

    Hatton HOFer???

Oscar and Shane were close to shot status, one was weight drained, the other was a dinosaur.

Cotto, not sure if he'd be an HOFer, most likely maybe, but a first ballot? Great win either way tho, much props for that one.

JMM, most of the boxing world had him winning, but oh well, still 2 great fights and def a future HOFer.

Morales was already fading by the time he fought him, but i give him credit for the 2nd fight for being the first and only to date to stop Erik

Barrera, much credit for this one. His greatest win so far.
