Pacquaio is fighting Marquez at the same catchweight as Mayweather did at 144?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by BumOfTheMonth, Oct 18, 2011.

  1. Pacquiao is a Welterweight Champion just like Mayweather right?

Why is he dragging senile Marquez to 144 where he looked atrocious against Mayweather 2 years ago.
Mayweather was badly criticized for choosing such a supposed high weight. Now Pacquaio is doing the same thing?

Or is it the fact that Mayweather came 2 pounds heavier on the scale?

Why was Mayweather so criticized for this fight?

By most It's seen the exact same way. Only the fact that Pac and JMM have history in two previous fights gives a little life to this mis match. Floyd coming in 2 pounds over only made him look stupid since he was already fighting a blown up Light weight.

Floyd cheated the scales. Let's wait and see if Manny will do the same.

  8. Agreed. The 2 pounds made him look like a coward, which he clearly isnt and I was fairly impressed how he beat up Mosley afterwards.

It was maybe his first long layoff and he found a whole in the contract and escaped with 2 pounds for 10k $. I mean, it was cheap but he was a tad smarter than Marquez thought.

the real question is why not just fight @ 140?

it even comes outta emmanuel's own mouth that he believes he's a light welter

Pacquiao has already cheated the scales by asking JMM to go up in weight, copying what Floyd did.

    Marquez FTW!

Well, if the 1 lb difference in Cotto's weight matters (according to *****s it matters) then surely 2 lbs would matter.
