Pacquaio is fighting Marquez at the same catchweight as Mayweather did at 144?

If you're looking for a scale cheater, look no further than Manny Pacquiao. He admitted on 60 Minutes that he cheated the scale to make weight. FMJ just decided to pay the penalty and fight at a comfortable weight. If you think that Floyd cheated the scales by coming in 2 pounds heavy, then what do you call it when Manny made Cotto come in 2 pounds light? What do you call it when Manny made Margarito come in 4 pounds light? Don't be a hypocrite. If it's bad for one to do, it's bad for the other. Don't make it seem like Floyd's the ultimate cheater when Manny has yet to prove he's not juicing. Looking at the dramatic difference in the size if his head, it appears to be very clear as to what he's doing. We don't need a drug test to know that he's juicing. Refusing the test only makes our case stronger. I want to see another fighter ask Manny Pacquiao to take the same tests. We'll see if he acts the same way.

stop sucking off floyd's **** for a minute. so you actually think that agreeing to fight at catchweight and making them is the same as agreeing to fight at a catchweight and not making them?

Man both May and Pac cheated the scales.

Mayweather, by not honoring the 144 contract and coming in at 146 is very unprofessional. He never intended to honor the contract. Anybody that says that did not help Floyd is an idiot.

Manny Pacquiao, cheated the scales by draining fighters in catchweight fights. He can easily make 140 with no problem to fight Marquez. But they know they have a greater advantage taking him to 144. That's not keeping it fair, it's a cowardly move. Do you really think Team Pac would of went for that if it was the other way around?

I understand your point in Mayweather being bigger and posessing way more physical advantages.

Pac doesn't have the advantages over Marquez that Mayweather has but he does fight more comfortabel as a welter than Marquez, and for that reason they are not fighting at 140. Pacquiao has filled in very comfortable as a welter and has gained more power without losing much speed.

IMHO, I think Marquez was his best at 130. at 135 he already started to look like he lost a step, or maybe it's just that he went up to 135 at 35 yrs of age.

Don't you think that 144 favors Manny? And don't you think that 140 would of been more of a fair fight considering Marquez is 38?

    *******s can't have it 2 ways.

    Either:

Pac claimed he was too small for Cotto/ Margo/ DLH and that he was actually naturally a JWW so the catchweights and weight draining ain't a problem because it was done to level the playing field for the brave small guy but that means that he's cheating Marquez by being a natural JWW and forcing Marquez to fight at WW where Pac has proven effective and Marquez has proven useless.

    Or:

Pac's claim that he's a natural JWW being brave and fighting bigger guys is full of **** and he's actually a full fledged WW now, so asking Marquez to fight at WW isn't as bad because Pac cannot make JWW (still bad because Marquez proved 2 years ago that he's useless at WW) but in this scenario you have to admit that he was cheating the bigger guys by making them weak and weight draining them.

It's one or the other, either he cheated the bigger guys or he's cheating Marquez or a little of both. Can't have it both ways where he's too small for WW vs bigger guys and too big for JW vs smaller guys.

You answered the question " why not make the fight at 140 then..." with the statement above, saying a more fair fight would be below 140, around 137-138. So the more they can get Marquez up in weight, away from that 138-137 range the more advantages it will be for them.

Team Pac has been dibilitating opponents with catchweights to gain an advantage. You can't deny that brother. In the case with JMM, they are not weakening him, but making him fight where he is not as effective.

We'll just wait and see how the fight goes, but I expect Pac to TKO Marquez by the 4th round. Marquez is a great counterpuncher but he still takes shots. We already know Pac has developed into a more complete fighter since his last fight with Marquez. It's not just his left that opponets need to watch out for.

Because it was not for a championship belt, if they were contesting a WW belt then the commission would have enforced the weight limit... The thing is i don't mind the catchweight with the Floyd/Marquez fight, what i don't like was Floyd cheating the scale with 2pounds more.. Now with this Manny/Marquez match up, Juan should have learned by now that he don't need to match up with Manny meat for meat, to retain his speed and endurance Marquez should be treating this fight as a LW/LWW fight and must not go beyond 135-138lbs at the weigh in, let Manny go up to 142-144lbs.. I'm pretty sure by fight night Marquez will be weighing at a healthy 140-142lbs and Manny will be around 146-148lbs.. not that big of a difference...

Manny only fought for two catchweights, Cotto at 145lbs when Cotto's last fight with Clottey he weighed only 146lbs.... And Margarito at 150lbs, Tony who was a career WW fighter all his life...

True but, at that stage in his career Margo could not make Welter anymore that's why he had gone up in weight to face Garcia at 154 before his fight with Manny. The guy is 5'11" it was incredible that he was able to fight at welter for so long.

Same with Cotto, you could say he was a Jr. Welter so the catchweight shouldn't be an issue. But at that point in his career he couldn't make that weight any more. It was dispicable that they made him put his 147 belt on the line for a 145 fight.

Oh....I"m not blind... I've called this what it is from jump... A mis-match. A fight that gives an old legend a nice retirement check in the twilight of his career.

When Floyd signed on to fight JMM at 144 I said the same thing. Which is a fight that looks good on your resume. The only differences JMM and PAC have history which breaths a little extra life in selling the fight.

This fight will be a complete blow out. JMM is not the same fighter he was when they first faced one another. JMM is fighting above his ideal against a bigger, younger, stronger and faster fighter. The same deal when JMM fought a 146 Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd is more than just "1/2 lbs" difference and weight is only one aspect when comparing "size". All physical dimensions are appropriate when discussing who is bigger...PAC or Floyd. It's easy to see from a "height" perspective as Floyd is obviously taller and longer than PAC whom Floyd has labeled a "midget".

We can look at frames....which Floyd is wider and seems more dense which allows carrying added muscle more effective and efficiently. Of course their weight which consists of many different layers including water weight.

PAC is definitley the smaller man...He's just working with the same god given gifts Floyd has been blessed with....

You know what I'm referring to Tarugo. Cotto won the Welterweight belt weighing in at 147 and not at 145.

WW belt covers 141 to 147.

    What's this 147 Belt you're talking about?
