I think he'd do better to move and jab from range. Cotto can be caught by short sharp punches, and Pac can still do that. He should change it up though, so move close, land a left hook to the body then move off to the side, reverting to the jab, reverting to controlling distance.

Take advantage of Pac's decline, and don't give him any un-neccesary chances.

Pac is done,he couldn't even put away a feather fisted guy in Timmy, there is a reason the catch weight King will not fight him at a healthy weight..The fact that he wants to fight a guy he already TKO just shows what a coward he is..

I think, especially at 154, it will just end in a decision for Pac.

That weight showed us his true limitation. He's a welter weight, a smallish one at that.

I think it's still the styles that will win it for him. His ability to trade with Cotto. It will surely plant a seed of doubt to Cotto's ability when he again finds out that he can't hurt Pacquiao and the other guy is firing back.

Cotto is perfect for pacquaio, he'll be right there in front of him the whole fight. So with that I see Pac stopping Cotto, yeah Pac has slowed down but he's sill a dangerous fight for cotto. May almost dropped him a few times but seemed to have mercy on him. I don't care what weight they fight Pac still wins.

I think so, too. He's no longer as dynamic on his feet. And even when he was back in 09, Cotto still frustrated him when he went into survival mode and ran. It's quite worrying what Cotto could achieve now that he'll know to apply that movement to win rounds instead of survive them.

if he gets his head down and works he could get a lot of success but i agree there is a fine line between being on the inside and being in range for short sharp punches

Healthy weight ? There as no issues for Cotto at welterweight:lol:

He simply got destroyed by Pac and lost his title

then he fought some one legged scrubs and other welterweights and got a paper belt at 54

that man will never be the same after getting brutalised by Pacquaio

Cotto has not improved in any way. He fought nothing at 54 !
    Zero.

He was getting hit by right hooks from Mayweather FFS and lead left uppercuts

he should never get hit with shots like that, they leave the attacker (floyd) wide open.

He's declined physically (speed, sharpness, reactions, etc, - which explains why he was still getting easily tagged by both Marg and May), but he has made some improvements on the technical side of things. The Floyd fight proved that. And coupled with Pacquiao's decline, the rematch is dead certain to be closer.

    Yup :good

Cotto's always been like that. His guard is susceptible to punches that creep around it. Mayweather's curling rights were landing at will. As were Pacquiao's and Margarito's in the first fight.

Look at the gaps between the side of his face and gloves. Wide open to exploit. Which is one of Cotto's biggest weakness - his guard is generally weak. Uppercuts penetrate him with ease, too. Which is what leaves his sides open.

yeah his guard is weak, that's why it is of paramount importance for cotto to get his jab into the fight. he can't afford to be exchanging TOO much as he has a bit of a paper face and as you mentioned the weak guard. it's funny though as when he gets on the inside his guard seems to be much stronger.

He's standing straighter now, which buys him an additional fraction of a second to defend himself, though I agree with you and Rico, it's a glaring weakness, a habbit that he'll never correct IMO.

Agree with you again, his jab is key to his defence. It allows him an offensive and defensive foothold to build from. I'm pretty sure he moves better laterally these days as-well.

A leaky defense, and a debatble gas tank have been a curse for Cotto, but strangely a blessing too. Without those, I don't think he'd of become as marketable as he is right now.
