It depends on the weight class and how much the opponent ways, if I'm reading this correctly. http://www.abcboxing.com/documents/abcboxing_regulatory_guidelines.htm Scroll down, you'll see it.
The link I posted says "No limit" for the allowed weight difference for Heavyweight. I'm not sure about title fights, though.
Pac was on 60 minutes and said he had weight pockets in his 1st Pro fight so he could come in above the minimum.
This is probably the weirdest p-o-v I've seen expressed on this forum (excluding everything PowerPuncher has ever said, obviously). You are angry that someone achieved something out of the ordinary? You're pissed off that someone overcame a huge disadvantage? You think it's a bad thing that someone was able to do this? Sorry, I'm stumped here, I don't see where you're coming from AT ALL.
The fight would not be commissioned if there was serious danger of someone getting fked but quite frankly coming in at 145 in a light middleweight bout isn't an issue and the limits are there so people aren't too big, not too small.
Agreed, Pac coming in as a WW should not be an issue, only Margarito not being allowed to come in at 154 should be... if anything !
Likely to gain some strength as he knew Ruiz would have moments were he would be leaning on Roy trying to wear him out in that boring **** style, he got big enough were his speed was barely effected but enough to not be bullied... thats just my guess tho.
That was not the case for Roy Jones vs John Ruiz. The reason that comes to me is because I remember that Roy Jones had to weighed in heavily clothed so that he could come in at least 190 lbs...... .....had Jones not made 190 lbs, Ruiz' Heavyweight title would not have been at stake. It may have something to do with the individual sanctioning bodies (wba, wbc, ibf, ect...) having different rules in regards to what fighters have to weigh to fight for their various titles.
