Mayweather has great timing, but his speed and reflexes seemed to have diminished to the extent where this fight favors Pacquaio. Mayweather would have been better off fighting Pacquaio in 2009, but perhaps he didn't have enough self belief to know if he could weather the storm considering he hasn't been hit much in his career. For that, we can only speculate. For right now though, there are few things that stick out in my mind. Mayweather doesn't move around the ring like he used to, his height would be a detriment, and his reflexes have clearly slowed. What Mayweather does as a deterent to a fighter when they encroach on him, is he'll duck low and step foward and try to smother their punches. This would work againt many fighters, but Pacquaio is fast enough to pick up on this and to hit Mayweather on his way in. Mayweather is too tall to get away with this tactic. He'll find himself getting hit with a left uppercut and eventually, stunned, and followed up with a combination. This may not take Mayweather out, but it will make him more one dimensional as he'll revert to his style of backing against the ropes. This will not work against Pacquaio who punches from too many angles, that Mayweather cannot protect against due to his diminished reflexes and Pacquaio quick hands. When this fight happens, Mayweather will get knocked out. This is probably why it won't happen. Regardless, that my take. I know there will be references to Marquez because Marquez is a counterpuncher that neutralized Pacquaio, but I believe that Bogotzo covered that in length, and it doesn't not render re-discussion.
Why do you have so much hatred in your heart that you would wish another man that you never met to die?
Didn't read. The biggest factor is that Pacquaio has lost his foot speed, which actually means that he is the one who ends up knocked out. He isn't mobile enough to compete with Mayweather any more.
since manny has got on that road to the mayweather fight who has he ko'd besides ricky hatton and dont say cotto because he took a worse beating against margo and ODLH quit
:happy Thank You. When was the last time Pacman actually knocked anyone out? it was Hatton and that was 3 long years ago. He looked like **** against JMM and TB, 2 guys who couldnt carry Mayweathers jockstrap.
What are you basing this on? If it's his fight with Bradley, you will be in for a surprise because Bradley has very quick feet himself and has one of the best aggressive defenses in the sport. He's also shorter than Pacquaio, which allowed him to get underneath Pacquaio's punches. His physical stature actually helped him defensively. Mayweather is not young himself anymore and does not use his feet the way he used to, and to me, looks like he lost a step. I think people saying Pacquaio lost his footspeed don't really understand what they're looking at.
pac is not the same any more neither is floyd. but, this floyd would be much easier for him than the 1 in 2009. floyd is not a mover any more. pacs style favors guys who fight in front of him.
Of course he has a chance to beat him. Both guys are talented and great for their time but them not facing each other is a huge blow negatively to boxing. They don't even care anymore its despicable. They are even selling a fight that won't happen saying, "My focus is ...(Manny/Floyd depending which one is talking). Then again we'll never know so you have a right to say Manny will knock him out in the first rd. I would've beaten prime Monzon & Napoles on the same night too. Hell either version of the two still in decent fighting shape. Now back to reality, Manny couldn't knock out Bradley or Marquez in the third fight.
One of us doesn't understand what their looking at, and it isn't me. There's a post above this one 'Pacquaio's style suits people who stand infront of him.' Right so the fight takes place with each guy infront of the other. Who has the better physical dimensions? Mayweather. Does Pacquaio have the speed to over come that? No. Mayweather is far from slow. Pacquaio had quicker feet than Mayweather, handspeed is up for debate, especially when you factor in that Mayweather has superior reflexes and timing. So, Mayweather can dictate with a jab, or he can defend and counter. Pacquaio's greatest offensive ability during his career has been his ability to create punching angles with his feet. Watch the Cotto fight. He can't do that any more. Watch the Marquez fight, watch the Bradley fight. Mayweather has educated footwork, no wasted steps. Very similar to Marquez, so Pacquaio is offensively neutralised, and Mayweather has a stationairy target. :hi:
