Pacquaio's speed and power vs. Cotto's swiss cheese defence

I think Pac has good movement but his upper body movement bcomes repetitive and even coreopgraphed . Cotto will get used to this and capitalize. Dn't get me wrong Cotto will also get hit, but some people make it seem like Pac is gonna make him look like Arturo Gatti on Xanax.

 

Manny use to have a lot of holes in his game....his defense and offense has improved 10 fold. JMM was landing counters all night, yes, but he was also missing a lot. THat was a very offensive minded fight for both fighters and JMM is hella accurate at a weight that is natrual to him. PAC's defense is very good as is Cotto, but PAC is able to do a bit more b/c he enjoys advantages with his speed and reflexes that will ultimately help him against counter punchers. Cotto hasn't seen anything like PAC and it will be difficult for him to figure out how to counter someone as quick as manny or locate his body for someone with the kind of footwork Manny impelemnts. COtto needs to get PAC early and get his respect early b/c as the fight wears on, Miguel will begin to loose speed and control over the fight.....which is why I think the first few rounds are going to be WAR....both men doing work and damage but if he can't get PAC out early he'll begin to fade and PAC will begin to get stronger.

 

I agree....but even with that "repetitiveness" PAC's natrual gifts and ability allow him to avoid offense coming at him. He's doing the same stuff but he's still able to avoid most of the offesen coming his way.. Cotto will be in the same boat as the other Greats that PAC has conqured.....Knowing what the **** is PAC is doing but unable to capitolize on it b/c of his speed, reflexes and talent. MAB, EM, DLH, JMM were all better technical boxers than PAC...but they just couldn't do what they wanted b/c of the vast disparity in the levels of talent.

PAC is going to have a handful early......but if Cotto doesn't take advantage of the early rounds to get him out....he's not going to beat PAC in the later rounds.

 

I agree, Hhe has polished his skills a lot. but that doesn't automatically make him better than Cotto. He is still there to be hit, FREQUENTLY.

 

I see the exact opposite Nall......PAC has a war early on and if Cotto can't put PAC to sleep in the initial 5 rounds he's going to be dominted in the 2nd half of the fight when PAC begins to get his stride and Cotto begns to fade. The speed and spuratic/intelligent pressue will cause Cotto's pipes to burst. He can't win a decision against PAC in my opinion.. Cotto just isn't a GREAT finisher, especially if he can't do signifigant damage to PAC early on.

You're not alone, as anyone who knows boxing knows Pac's defence has improved immeasurably since the Morales fight. His footwork and movement are so much better now it makes him far harder to hit.

 

have you seen his last 3 fights? LOL cotto ain't as fast and as skilled as marquez either.

You forget to mention that after Collazo, Hatton has faced Urango, Castillo & Floyd, all big to decent punchers. None of them took him out in under 10 rounds yet alone 2, and certainly not in that devastating manner. You underrate pacquiao, its as simple as that.

If you werent amazed he did it in 2 thats fine, your probably one of the few. I won money on a Pac KO inside 3 myself but I was still amazed.

Clottey has demonstrated no power, dont know why you keep clinging to this guy as some sort of monster puncher. Pac is a p4p puncher, if he carries his power up, he remains a p4p puncher.
