Cotto said he would rather put his title in the trash can than give Pacquiao the opportunity to make history at a catchweight. That shows envy and jealousy. If you don't mind putting title in the trash, then why don't you just let Pacquiao fight for it? What is it to you? Its really just pathetic jealousy. Trying to prevent someone from making history when in fact other great fighters have fought for titles at catchweights. but anyways like i said earlier its just a minor issue. The fact remains that Pacquiao is the only true 4 division champion ever winning the legitimate championship (not some bogus title) at 112, 126, 130, and 140
What I understand is that you are a know-nothing. What was the limit for the Bernard vs Oscar fight? Ill be waiting...
All this weight nonsense is getting out of hand, looks like people finally found another excuse to hang on regarding Pacquiao now that "shot to death" is becoming old. Hagler/Leonard fought at a catchweight and all middleweight titles were on the line, same for DLH/Hopkins and many other fights. People trying to make this look "unfair" are newbies that don't know ****. This is Manny's FIRST catchweight fight, not his 10th like many try to make it look.
This is nothing but an obvious excuse and no confidence from Cotto's side. If he feels the weight is "unfair" he could have turned down the fight like he said he will.
Glad to know Im not the only one in this thread who knows some boxing history. Im still waiting on a response from the ones who tried to insult me.
Hey dummy Hopkins started by wanting to fight De la hoya. When Oscar said no It was Hopkins idea to fight at a catch weight. Hopkins wanted to face De la hoya so bad is not cause of legacy it's cause of the money. Will Cotto be getting the same amount Hopkins got of 16 million dollars plus ppv bonus? No. Cotto wasn't desperated to face Pacquiao it was the other way around and Arum wanted this fight cause he promotes both fighters. And dummy Pacquiao did say he don't care about the title belt not being on the line in the first place. Again it's simple if Pacquiao wants that title so badly then fight at a welterweight limit.
bingo. Whats unfair is that other fighters have fought for titles at catchweights, but Pacquiao can't. Although Hagler/Leonard was not a catchweight, Hopkins / ODLH , Chavez / Whitaker and Norris / Taylor were.
Then Pacquiao will still remain the true 4 division champion cause the title Cotto has is a vacated title that Cotto beat Jennings to win it back in feb of 09. The true champion at 147 pounds is really Mosley.
pac needs to stop being a *****!!! whats next fight vlad for his title at catchweight of 145? roach probably would ***** about it too cus they couldnt get vlad to come down to 143.
Roach looks ridiculous here. You can't force a guy to fight for the title if he is not allowed to reach the title weight limit.
if roach and pac are so CONFIDENT that they will win.....then why not fight at 147 for the title?! why fight so hard for the catch weight?
Hopkins was desperated of wanting to fight De la hoya. Same with Hagler in which he desperate of wanting to fight Leonard. The different is Cotto wasn't desperate of wanting to fight Pacquiao.
Oh so now its about how much money is involved? I thought your argument was that title fights always happen at the weight limit. LMAO!!!! You know like when you said : Looks like you are the one who didnt understand much. History lesson is over junior. Get some books and do some reading.
I am well aware of what went down between Oscar and Bernard. So what? They set the president? Because they did it, it applies to everyone and anyone across the board? There is no such rule is a bull**** excuse. I'm sick of arguing with idiots like yourself. Pacquiao cannot limit what weight Cotto fights at if he wants his title. That's it. Its as clear as day but some people (like yourself) are oblivious to this fact. Do you really want to see this fight go down the tubes over what Roach calls a "overrated" title? Do you really want to see Manny vs. Mosley at 140 rather then Cotto at 145 (or 147 for the belt)? Do you REALLY think any respectable boxing fan or writer will give Manny credit for beating Mosley at 140 pounds???? You'll probably answer yes to all these questions so I don't know why I am even wasting my time!
