Joe Chavez, who once worked for Manny Pacquiao as a cutman, said he holds the key to the victory of Miguel Cotto over the Filipino pound-for-pound king when they clash on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas.
While Chavez has a different role inside Team Cotto with Joe Santiago as head trainer, the seasoned cornerman has immersed himself so much in Pacquiao’s corner that he claims that he knows some of Pacquiao’s innermost secrets.
“When attacked, he (Pacquiao) doesn’t know what to do,” Chavez told the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia over the weekend.
Before the Argentine-born Miguel Diaz was recruited by Team Pacquiao, Chavez had been a familiar fixture in the corner manned by Freddie Roach, having aided Pacquiao in his bloody brawl with Juan Manuel Marquez and a few of other fights.
“I have other work here (in Team Cotto), but if they ask me, I can help and do my comments and I know Pacquiao very well,” said Chavez.
Aside from Team Cotto’s observation that Pacquiao doesn’t do well when he is the one being pursued, Chavez believes that Cotto’s natural advantage in size will eventually prove to be Pacquiao’s downfall.
“Cotto is (like) a bull. Pacquiao is fast, but Cotto has more power in the punch and is strong. This will be the difference. Pacquiao has never fought as strong as Cotto," said Chavez :smoke

When Pacquiao is under pressure he fights back in straight lines. Look at him go after Hatton and De La Hoya. Just swarmed them with consistent punching, sometimes he's not looking where he punches. That's no secret information.
    :huh:huh:huh:huh

I think I know that "being attacked" thing of Pac on fights against MAB, EM and JMM, but Pac absolutely did handle it well and still still came out as the victor of those fights. Noticeably Pacquiao has improved a lot fight after fight, as we see his performance the way he handled attacks and pressure moves of DLH and Hatton. Let's say Cotto is always the bigger fighter over Pac on this one, but everyone is still in doubt of who can handle each other's punching power as well who could connect or hurt each other regardless of what weight they come from. Cotto is Cotto from his last fights as well as Pac from his last outings. They could change fight strategies against each other but we will only see who has an edge, only when they step in the ring. It's how they would feel and react each other in fight night.

That used to be the case. Pacquiao knows what to do now. He made a quick-footed frenetic target in Hatton pay severely with lethal force over and over. Chavez needs to check his calendar. It's late 2009, not early 2006.

    .
Just remember that PAC's cutman for this fight is Miguel Diaz, a long time cutman of Cotto... Miguel Diaz can also reveal important information about Cotto to Team Pacquiao if they will ask him...

Miguel Diaz was PAC's cutman in the Hoya and Hatton fights...

Actually I think PAC likes it when his opponent attacks him...

    lol, well that was helpful!!

anyway, Pac sidesteps when attacked, well recently, or sumtimes he just stay put and covers his head and body, even clinch from time to time. Pac doesnt back up in a straight line nowadays, that was pre Diaz...

Yeah, right! Morales was KOd while atracking Pac. Hatton attacked Pac the whole duration of their fight, ate a lot of rights and lefts from Pac until KOd in the 2nd rd.
