Yes he wasn't that good then but he was indeed weight drained. :good

I think my point was perfectly valid.

Campbell said it last night on Grind, "The biggest misconception in Boxing is that fighter with an undefeated record is better than a fighter with losses".

Of course, it can go either way. If you lose in the fashion Lacy and Taylor did, then your career is pretty much ****ed. However, I think it has a lot to do with the individual and how mentally tough they are. Pacquiao became a better fighter, as did others when the received their first loss. All my favourite fighters took their losses and rebounded; Barrera, Margarito, Mijares, Marquez, and hopefully Andy Lee. It's to be admired.

You should have posted this instead of your previous post. I wouldn't have wasted my time poking at you.

Pac was weight drained when he was KOed the second time. Like it or not it's true.

At the end of the day, this is clearly NOT Pacman. He has a proven chin and good body endurance....no doubt he was seriously weight drained, look how he's fighting. We've seen his power travel up, no doubt if he was in any fit state his punches would've had snap on them. I personally think he looked for a way out there, the punch that ended it didn't look particularly severe.

I posted this exact, same video here on ESB a few days ago.

He really was in poor physical conditon for this fight. This is not an excuse.

He couldnt make weight. He officially weighed in at 113, if I remember correctly. That was after fasting, and sweating it out, and trying to drain his body of fluids just to make weight.

The WBC stripped him of his title. If Manny wins, the title is vacant. If Medgoen Singsurat wins, he's the new champion.

If I'm not mistaken, they also penalized him by making him wear slightly thicker gloves, because he didnt make the proper weight.

You can see in the video how weak and unstaedy he looked. Every single punch he received, even jabs, felt like a hard punch.

He was very hesitant to trade, and he seemed like he just wanted to last the whole fight by sticking and moving. He knew he was in trouble.

You even saw his signature "fist slamming" when he got hit, but his body was just not fit enough to follow what his mind wants to do.

That fight, at that time, was the first ever instance that I saw Pacquiao seem like he was really scared to go in and attack. He felt every single punch of that opponent.

The Singsurat KO loss happened September 1999.

And here's what Manny looked like a few months earlier.

    Mindanao, February 1999
    vs Todd Makelin (AUS)
non title, tune up fight (112)
    [yt]J3_GxxgCQLw[/yt]

    Manila, April 1999
    vs Gabriel Mira (MEX)
    WBC 112 title defense

    part1 (fight starts @ 4:40 mark)
    [yt]IZpq8M5M8Lo[/yt]

    part2
    [yt]pbjTeh7mVOY[/yt]

You can clearly see the difference. The 1990's Pacquiao was a wildman. :yep

I don't care if he was weight drained or not, Enzo.

I think discussing losses in today's game makes for an interesting discussion. It seems to be becoming more and more important for fighters to have undefeated records. If Manny hadn't been knocked out at that stage in his career, it probably would have came during some other time. Like the fantastic quote from Goodfellas, "Everybody takes a beating some time". I truely believe that to be the case.

You have Marciano, people question the era he fought in, and then you have Lopez, a fighter in Boxing's no man's land for most part. You have Calzaghe, often percieved as a protected fighter, and then Floyd Mayweather Jr, criticised for not taking on the best Welterweights in the world when it was the hottest division in Boxing.

Would you rather have those question marks over your career, or would you rather take on the best and lose if a better man emerges? I know which I would prefer.

I was just stating facts! i don't care if you don't care coz obviously you don't. You just want to poke on the "*******s". Read your first post in this thread and tell if you were being objective.

You know for a fact that this thread was started by a ******ed noob who just wants to rally up pac fans. Or maybe you just "don't care" coz you have other reason? :deal

Harrison should not be taken seriously.

I'm curious Enzo, what other fighters besides Manny Pacquiao are you a fan of? You'll have to excuse me for being oblivious.

If you think i'm just a pac fan than you're an idiot. I wouldn't waste a minute of my time in boxing forums if i don't like boxing in general. :deal

Actually, I was just interested in who else you are a fan of, Enzo. This is why we haven't had one constructive conversation since our time at Eastside.

You think I have an agenda against Pacquiao and his fans.

I'll ask you again, hopefully you find it in your heart to answer this time.

Beside Pacquiao, what fighters are you a fan of?

That 112 version of Pac is truly wild. A fight with Darchinyan at that time would have been crazy.

Sorry for the bump and the self quote.

I just had to add this video, provided by enzo earlier.

    It fits perfectly. Thanks, enz.

translation of the Singsurat pre-fight interview: (starts @ 2:15 to 2:55 mark)
Buboy Fernandez (longtime Pacquiao trainer and friend):

"Manny, I take my hat off to him when it comes to reducing weight. People were saying Manny's gonna have problems making 112 lbs, because he's at 130 lbs right now. They say Manny's gonna have a really hard time making the 112 weight now.

You know, Manny, he's an expert at cutting weight and reducing. Actually, before, when we were preparing for (Gabriel) Mira, he was really trying his best not to eat. But now, in this coming fight in Thailand, he's still eating normally now, and he's joining with us trainers during mealtime, but of course he tries to eat less than we do.

This time, he's not killing himself with lesser meal portions. We're just trying to burn off all the extra weight through hard training, and not through food reduction."
