Those of you who say he didn't punish Margarito do you guys not understand what punishment is? To punish somebody is to put them through hell as long as possible. Ali would straight up punish people with his jab, his speed, his letting them tire themselves out before he goes for the kill. Wlad like to punish people, jab there heads off for 3 rounds, start to the throw big right hands in the 4th, and hopefully start to lay the smack down in the 7th or 8th (even if people think he's boring).
Mike Tyson did not "punish" people. He walked in, knocked them out ASAP, they wake up, and there life goes on. I'd much rather have Tyson knock me out in 5 seconds with 1 punch, than to fight Ali for 10 minutes and catch 200 punches to my brain. Then I get so tired I can barely stand, but yet he lets me stay on my feet just so he can hit me 50 more times before finally taking me out.

    Hurry while its up
    Starting at 0:38 mark.

Pacquiao: "Im not sure if it will continue, like I said we have a pending case that we need to finish. But I'm sure time will come that he's OK to fight. But I think he is preparing since his next fight is a southpaw. So (laugh) I know what's on his mind."

Anchor: "I know he can't be wiser to you" (referring to Floyd's preparing for a Pac bout)

Pacquiao: "Yah he can't be wise to me" (Sorry but that's his grammar)

Reporter: "For those who says that Pac's killer instinct is dropping from his last bouts from Clottey, Margarito and Mosley whom he dropped that he didn't continue his attacks, Pacquiao only has this simple statement."

Pacquiao: "If my opponent is too nice to me, its hard to turn into an angry mode"

Anchor: "Why is it your conscience?"

Pacquiao: "Like you laugh going in ring and your opponent is bad, you get inside the ring and you sees your opponent whom is bad. You have this gut feeling of bravery and anger.

Reporter: (talking about a 3rd bout with Marquez) Pacquiao only has this silly threat.

Anchor: "If you see Marquez, would you be hot blooded, would you put up your game face?"

Pacquiao: "You know I'm not mad at him(Marquez), or do I have a grudge against him...It's just that I'm a bit irritated at him."

Agreed and is why Mosley ko'ing Margarito was not as bad as a rd by rd beatdown for 9-10 rounds from Pacquiao. If anything, Margarito is lucky Pacquiao didn't press the gas more after the 10th as that could've been the end of his career if it's not already. And what's with this "killer instinct"? They're fighters not "killers" so it should be "urge to go for the ko" or something like that.

Pacquiao needs to stop cherrypicking and test himself then. Clottey, Margarito, and Mosley were hard fights to get up for which is why he should've fought someone else like Bradley instead. These older vets who still have something in the tank should give the younger ones more opportunities to shine. If he doesn't splatter Marquez eary-mid rounds then he should retire.

I think it's an excuse from Pacquiao. Anyways, there's nothing wrong with not knocking out every opponent you face.

I don't think Pacman wants to admit it, but Truth is I think it's more of a sign Pacquiao's mentally has a foot out of the door from the boxing life. I don't blame him, he's only human. Focusing on so many other things he can't bring the drive to the sport he once did.

IMO,the fact that Ali didn't really step into his punches had more to do with his particular style of fighting, than a desire to inflict as much damage to his opponents. Also,I remember Tyson, instead of going for a quick KO, seemed to prolong the agony with Tyrell Biggs in '87.

Besides,I'm not sure the resemblance of Ali with Manny is a good one.Stylistically, among heavyweights maybe Dempsey or Patterson would be better.

Hes messed him up pretty bad, if you ask me:

Broke his orbital bone in the process. So other than actually killing him, what more could you have asked from Manny? If it was any other corner, they would have had the balls to stop the fight when it should have been. Fortunately for them and their fighter, Manny stepped off the gas and carried him in the final rounds. The damage could have been far worse if he continued pounding him in the face.

Why would he do that? Manny claims he didn't have the killer instinct in that fight because Margo was too nice to him. That doesn't make sense.

I see your point. There would be no gas to step off or ease on since he supposedly didn't even have the killer instinct.

I don't think he's making excuses for not KOing his past opponents, One shelled all night, One has an iron chin, and one kept running.

I think it's more of just his normal statements against the people who says he lost this called "killer instinct".

And yes Manny is too soft nowadays.
