If you're a sports fan you should know this already. If Pacquiao's really clean and wants the fight, he should have no problem agreeing to Olympic style testing.
Why is it assumed that everyone who passes Olympic style testing is clean? If the testing itself was bulletproof, they wouldn't have to try so hard to track people down with paper trails.
... not on the day of the fight but the day before the fight. atsch Scientists and organization approving them doesnt make them the best, they might just be the most popular. Youre keep saying that their the best because of other people saying it and its popularity. BUt like i said they might be the best but they wont be THAT MUCH better than the rest of the agencies. another reputable agency will be able to detect most if not all of what USADA can detect, they probably use the same technology.
I never said it was bulletproof or perfect but it's the best we have. You don't want the best testing sports has to offer?
They stop testing 48 hours before the fight. Scientists and organizations going to them for approval shows they feel that WADA is the best. I think scientist and multi-million dollar organizations might be a little more reliable than Pacquiao fans.
What makes it the best? It looks to me as if it's the most inconvenient for the athlete since random testing can occur under all hours of the night, but that and being the best are two different things. What good is signing on for that if there's still enough holes in it for the haters to point to after you jump through that hoop? It's a no-win situation. Just like his opponents, USADA is being built up only to be torn down itself once Pac gets through it- the board will immediately go from talking it up as being fail-safe to pointing out its flaws. I'm just doing a pre-emptive strike.
Why should it be convenient for athletes? This is about trying to keep sports fair and I'm all for it. I know you're a Pacquiao fan, but I'll ask again. Why don't you want the strongest testing sports has to offer?
Because waking guys up at 3 in the morning during training camp is disruptive, for starters. WADA refuses to budge on certain aspects of testing that would be more than fair to negotiate on while still maintaining the same level of effectiveness as their current testing does. I've had Floyd's back in the past on a number of issues, but not this one. If he was intent on taking down another man's reputation, do it in the ring, not in the newspapers.
What evidence do you have to say that it is the best? You can't state "scientist and multi-million dollar organization" as fact, without giving us evidence to show that it is. FYI, to this date, USADA/WADA have not detected HGH in their tests... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/11/sports/baseball/11baseball.html?_r=1 FYI, regarding "multi-million dollar organizations", do you mean NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL? Because none of them have prescribed to doing Olympic style drug testing. IN FACT, Top Rank are suggesting that the same methods applied to these organizations be used for this fight.
Why should WADA budge? They have a strict way of doing things and they should hold to that. Other athletes have been doing this for years, so what makes Pacquiao so special that they should change the rules for him? Pacquaio could just agree to the random tests and then we could see the actual fight. You must've missed this question the first two times I asked so I'll ask again. Why don't you want the strongest testing that sports has to offer?
You're right Pacquiao Fan I'll listen to you instead of world renowned scientists. WADA is not the best because Pacquiao Fans say otherwise. Scientist are so stupid what do they know? From now on we should all listen to Pacquiao Fans. One question: Why do you not want to see the most strict testing that sports has to offer?
Why should WADA budge? Because if they want to get hired for this case, which they don't have any jurisdiction on as of now, both parties have to agree on the terms under which they're brought in because they are an outside organization that's being hired independent of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Finally, prove to me that it's the best testing. I've already shown you gaping holes in their effectiveness, and while you acknowledge it, you still stick to that they're the best. Well, what makes them the best? Is it because they harass athletes the most? Is it because they prosecute cases against people when they know they've broken their own protocol (see: Latasha Jenkins case)? Is it that they still haven't caught a single HGH user with a blood test? I know your response- you'll point out that they're still the best of the bunch, but my response is if "the best" can't even do that right, what's the difference between using an independent organization both parties agree upon? Face it. There is no reason for Mayweather's camp to not budge on who does the independent testing.
At the end of the day all of this arguing and animosity is over a simple drugs test which thousands of Athletes have to take. Some people may say that Mayweather is in the wrong for asking for something that has never been asked for before, well that is a fair point, but in what could be the biggest fight in the history of the sport it is not that outrageous of a demand. If a fighter can agree to paying $10 million per pound over, what the hell is wrong in giving a couple heartbeats of blood? On the other hand the Mayweather camp should not have gone about it in the way that they did. They should not have accused Manny of cheating with no evidence and then demand that he takes this test to "prove" his innocence, when infact nothing in his career so far has suggested that he is guilty. However if the issue gets taken to court there will be no chance that this fight will happen. I feel that the way that Mayweather camp approached the negotiations with this issue is all wrong and has hit a nerve with Pacquiao. Also Arum and Roach's constant contradictions and ignorant comments have not helped the matter at all and have now made a lot of people question Manny's credibility doing a lot more damage than when Mayweather Sr first opened his mouth. Nobody should get this upset over being asked to do a blood test, but everyones different, if you take a second to really think about it, if you was a fighter and was asked to take a blood test, would you object?
Nothing. He's reassured Pac isn't fighting with an edge. With so much at stake, you gotta make sure this is a fair fight.
The problem isn't WADA, the problem is USADA's Tygart. He goes off talking about how blood is superior and he points out its the only way to catch HGH, when the fact is there has never been a positive from his miracle test. NEVER. This has got nothing to do with Floyd, so you gotta ask yourself what gives? What's his agenda? The reality is that he's the CEO, which means he's making bucks for his company. They are not a government entity you know?
