I wonder why Arum doesn't want to put another Filipino superstar like Donaire on a Pacquiao undercard.

Donaire-Walters or Donaire-Vetyeka 2 should be in there.

It's quite decent. With Loma and Zhou Shiming in it. Matchups are quite ok. I would rather have this than a named undercard like Broner but with an obvious overmatched opponent.

this is an ok card for a free card on HBO, but not a ppv. Especially when you have a shitty fight as the main event

Arum already answered this before. He thinks Donaire would just pull the same fan base as Pac. But I think there is something deeper here like Pac's team would not want Donaire on the undercard, just a hunch.

Its BS. Pacquiaos audience is wildly superior to Donaires which in turn would boos Donaires marketability.
Its simple, take Donaire, face him with someone who he surely will KO and enjoy the profits after Donaires next fight. If you have him face a nobody it will keep the cost down so no money lost.

But Arum will not do anything that really benefits Donaire because of what Donaire pulled in 2011.

Hi, my name is Chad. I originally made this account to just troll under the guise of some meathead UFC casual boxing fan with no knowledge that just thinks Rocky is boxing but have come to realize that this forum is already a giant den of trolls and people with casual boxing knowledge so here I am exposing myself and 'reforming' as a serious poster lol

Okay, now with that said I had to comment on both this undercard AND this PPV in general. I truly do not understand why people are so down on this card? I am quite blown away that people are not praising Pacquiao for this fight! He is fighting a very high risk/low reward bout! Manny Pacquiao is a top of the food chain boxing superstar. I find it commendable on the border of insane that he is doing this fight! Chris Algieri is a much taller and rangers pure boxer with tremendous movement, stamina, workrate and apparently a hint of toughness to boot! This is a stylistic nightmare for Manny, I feel. Does nobody else feel there is a large chance of Manny being outboard here!? Going by reactions of the general public to the fight it is very low reward for Manny and again commendable that he did not suddenly come down with a training injury followed by a more marketable fight in, say, January vs Marquez or Bradley or Provodnikov.

I, actually, tip Algieri to win a clear cut unanimous decision where Manny does not look bad but will discover that it will be hard to land regularly on Algieri yet get tagged by a large number of counters. I find that he may hurt Algieri a few times in the bout with counter right hooks but will not land many unseen straight lefts that do damage and then find out that Algieri is not there to fold the way so many others have. It is the willpower of Marquez to not fold in the face of adversity that has always given Manny such a challenge stylistically and find this stylistic challenge to be actually more difficult than [an especially older] Marquez. Algieri continuously throws punches and they are all accurate and straight. He is tall and tangy and capable of getting off first from the outside with his own respectable speed and his tremendously tight and technical footwork.

Unlike, say, Alvarado who is unable to make lateral movements without taking long strides and gallops - Chris Algieri turns and pivots without giving up much ground and staying balanced to throw counters. This is where I feel he defeats Manny. Manny will get caught running into jabs and crosses and then Algieri will pivot around him quickly, land a punch or two more and then back up whereas Manny tends to find himself crossed up if a guy pivots around him and unbalanced to turn and fire if a guy ends up to his side. So yeah, those are my two cents on the main event.

Undercard? I am not entirely sure on but it is definitely a good one on paper. Every match has this weird 60/40 chance of either being a mismatch or compelling. Lomachenko is one of the VERY best boxers in the world. It is 'intriguing' to see a 2-1 fighter up against a guy with like 50 bouts but said fighter is the typical Thai fighter without ANY quality on his resume. It is very very likely that he will not stack up as an actual challenge to Lomachenko. I've never seen the Thai so it is unfair to predict the outcome but if he is the 'typical Thai fighter' then I expect Lomachenko to be ineffectively pressured for one or two rounds, counter well and then begin pressing his own attack. Thai fighters are typically very tough - especially in the will department - so I expect the man to be getting hurt and visibly broken down by Lomachenko's amazing body attack but never stop throwing back until he is stopped midway through. In my vision, the fight will be aesthetically pleasing enough but lack any drama whatsoever and after it is over the appeal of the Thai's heart will immediately turn to disappointment as we are left having wanted a better challenger.

Bryan Vasquez vs Diego Magdaleno looks to be a very fun fight. I don't remember much of Vasquez from having seen him on a prior Pacquiao PPV undercard but recall that the fight felt a bit uninspired. I DO believe it was a perfectly acceptable boxing match but had just become a predictable pattern. That potential is here against Magdaleno. Magdaleno is a very good boxer punched that will press the action and assure that, again, the fight is aesthetically pleasing but I do believe he will quickly prove to be far too much for Vasquez and the fight will fall into a pattern where Vasquez tries to defend his title and doesn't just hand it over but ultimately we, as an audience, will feel 'bored' because we know Magdaleno is too good for his opponent. I predict a 10th round accumulation TKO victory for Magdaleno. Don't let his KO% fool you - Diego has respectable power and more importantly a killer instinct. Once his class begins to tell he will pour on a somewhat uncomfortable to watch amount of damage as he lacks 'finish this now' power but hits cleanly and hard enough to cause everlasting damage.

Finally, Zou Shiming vs whoever that guy is. Again, inexperienced fighter with a certain high level of skill (though nowhere near Lomachenko's) against a guy whose record suggests both experience and success. I do/did not feel up to looking the guy up so I ASSUME this guy also probably has a padded record and probably a 'limited' brawling type style favorable to making Shiming look good. I have zero knowledge of the man so I offer no prediction on anything with this fight. I just simply predict the tendencies of the promotion and fully assume that if Zou Shiming is what he is hyped up to be should ultimately dominate another game but limited opponent.

So, full PPV assessment? You will probably not feel it is worth the price tag but if you have the money and enjoy boxing you will feel that you at least spent your time on something that was enjoyable and especially if I am right about the upset (or even just a well fought fight by the underdog) jn the main event.
