Southpaw1974 Ok apologies about assuming you didn't know anything about boxing. I still don't believe they have the same arm length. Just think about it Wladimir is 6 foot 7inches tall and Mayweather is 5ft 8. It's just not possible.

As far as being a Floyd hater. Yes I will be honest and say I dislike the man. He is an arrogant, egotistical, money minded loudmouth. These are not qualities to be proud of. BUT I am levelheaded enough to know he is extremely talented. And I give Floyd respect taking on Marquez in his comeback fight. The guys is entitled to an easy warm up and he's not taking it. If Floyd beats Marquez and Pacquiao then I will hold my hands up and say he is the best. No contest.

very true IF Pac wins a congressional seat, but i just don't understand why most people are so sure Pac will win in the 2010 Phil elections and retire from boxing altogether. Now that he is a more influencial figure for the Filipinos thru boxing compared to the last time when he ran for office (wherein he lost big time), why would the Filipinos be more motivated to vote for him this coming elections? Believe me, Filipinos are not that dumb especially after what they have experienced in their former president - Erap, a trusted and lovable actor who was perceived to be uneducated and was used by corrupt govt officials which caused his downfall and got jailed for it.

The way I see it, for at least 4 more years, Pac will continue boxing and will be studying at the same time in school for him to better understand what public service in govt is all about and learn to speak English more fluently so that people would show more respect. These will give him at least a chance to show that he is worthy to run for public office. Besides, the Filipinos are not dumb to let Pac retire from boxing when he can still achieve much more in it.

So there's nothing to worry really, Pac will still entertain us for several more years.

Ok, fair enough. Apology accepted. I never said Floyd's persona was likable (or any Mayweather for that matter), I've always simply spoken about his talent. Believe it or not, their arm length is the same (Floyd and Wlad) unless HBO's stats are wrong. I know it sounds crazy, but it's possible. Look at a guy like Spud Webb. The dude was 5'7 and had really long arms on top of having an insane verticle leap.

I agree with all of that, and I'm one of the ones who wants Pac to beat FMJ.

pac already said in a very recent interview after the hatton fight that he is down to his last 2 fights. he can certainly change his mind in the future. but his current plans call for 2 more fights and then he retires.

As I've said he'll only retire if he wins in the elections which most probably will not happen.

Did anyone hear Pac's comments today?

Something along the lines of 'Mayweather's time has passed, it's my time now'

the thing is a guy with Pac's personality will always be underrated. Imagine if Pac was running around screaming "I'm the greatest" every 5 seconds. Of course people would rate him higher. All this talk about "I don't wanna say I'm the best" and "I got lucky"... and also cause he's from Asia which means most fans don't identify with him..those are the reasons why he's been underrated.

Flashy, confident, controversial... Thats what people get excited about. Not humble and pious with poor engrish.

Ability for ability its no contest, Pacquiao is the best.

PHiLLA. You've hit the nail on the head there.

    And yes he's right:
'Mayweather's time has passed, it's my time now'

Sometimes it gets better, in fact for most they would claim they have become better fighters after receiving a loss...something Hatton claimed before the fight.

Dont forget that PBF fought Hatton at 147 with Cortez...to me that is a much bigger disadvantage than having lost previously and become even more determined than ever.

The guy had 12 weeks training camp as oppose to 8 weeks...his determination or confidence was not hurt at all. Floyd has always been known as a light puncher in the higher weight class.

Just watched Morales v Pac 1 and I cant believe how feckin dodgy Joe cortez is here. Twice Erik was on the verge of KOing Pac and both times Cortez calles time and saves Pacs arse

So basically what you are saying is that because Hatton had a ref that actually enforced the rules and didn't let him get away with breaking them (ala refs in England) that he was at a disadvantage? Also, again the weight was a non-issue in the Mayweather fight because Mayweather himself moved up from 130lbs (10 lbs less than Hatton started his career at and still fights at), and Mayweather and Hatton weighed the same on the night of the fight. In fact, even when Hatton weighs in at 140, he steps into the ring at 148-150 (the same as Mayweather does even when he weighs in at 147lb and when he himself was fighting at 140lbs). It was not an issue of weight, it was an issue of skill. Mayweather has more skill in his left testicle than Hatton has in his whole body. I like Hatton, but that's the truth.

Enforcing the rules is one thing, breaking up the fight soon as you get inside is a bit silly. Most of the time it was PBF who would grab when Hatton get inside and the least the ref can do is left Hatton fight his way out of it.

Of course the weight was an issue, if it wasnt Floyd would have fought Hatton at 140 instead where he had the chance to get all the belts and beat a live fighter there, something he gets critisized for not doing. IfFloyd didnt fight Hatton at 140 because he couldnt make 140, then he forced a man who could make 140 go up to 147, therefore Hatton was the smaller man, and he was the bigger man.
