Pacquiao and Mayweather Best Punches vs Mosely

Those crisp counters ruin Shane's punch resistance and also had him afraid to pull the trigger, and took whatever Mosley had left in the tank, Shane was already a corpse by the time of the Pac fight, I remember Shane saying in an a interview after the Mayweather fight that he had thoughts of quitting around round 6, cause he didn't need to be taking that type of punishment, Mayweather stole his soul.

Just because he is standing in front, doesn't mean he needs to "trade" punches with Pacquiao. People are seriously over-estimating Pacquiao's inside fight game. I think he is going to have a serious issue in the clinch and in tight spaces if he fights Mayweather.

Mayweather is the better inside fighter, and it really isn't even close in my opinion. Manny likes to keep his distance and come in with a salvo and get out.

 

It was frustration that made Shane wanted to quit against FMJ. That's why he "tried" to still box during the remainder of the fight.
It was simple fear that made him run for for the hills against Pac. This is way more impressive for me in a vacuum.

 

Exactly. This tactic would be a matador counter scenario.

 

I placed "trade" on quotes because we all know FMJ doesn't do that -- Pac will trade, Mayweather will try to counter, but FMJ will immediately realize that he can't just counter against Pac who throws in flurries; he will take some.
He will need to fight like he always does -- stay the hell out of Pac's range after each potshot.

EDIT: I also think Roach will anticipate the clinching so he will make Pac prepared for that. Pac is a mid-range guy. He was never an (effective) inside fighter.

 

Completely disagree with you, sorry. Pacquiao needs space to punch. Take away his space and it is a different fight.

Hard to throw combinations without proper spacing.

Floyd would watch Pacquiao's fight tapes and will come to the conclusion that Marquez and Mosley constant moving to the right is the best way to nullify Pacquiao's offense.

Floyd's defensive tools wouldn't be as effective against a fast agressive combination southpaw puncher that can throw to the body and to the head in a single volley.

Floyd needs to be offensive like in his younger days to beat Pacquiao.

I completely disagree.
But I too believe that the only way to beat Pac is be aggressive on the counter -- something that EM and JMM employed pretty well.
I just don't see Mayweather being able to pull off the same feat against Pac NOW. I am willing to bet that Pac will KD May in more than one occasion if Mayweather will try to fight aggressively against Pac.

 

That's kind of my point. Manny is a "mid-range" guy. Let's evaluate that.

Manny has a reach disadvantage against Mayweather. So outside fighting is not a good idea, especially given Floyd's boxing ability.

Manny doesn't want to fight on the inside, as Mayweather is the better inside fighter. I would argue Mayweather is stronger in the clinch as well and could end up pushing Manny around to some degree.

That essentially leaves Manny with "mid-range or bust" as a strategy, and I don't like his chances. Just my opinion. Mayweather is a master at controlling range, one of his many gifts, and whoever controls range in the Manny vs Floyd fight will ultimately win.

I don't see Manny winning this fight if it happens.

 

If you say so, facts is Mayweather beat worse than even Forrest or Wright did, nearly every shot he threw had ko intentions, before the Mayweather fight did you see anyone backing Mosley up and knocking him from pillar to post, this fight was no boring boxing exhibition, he was trying to take off Mosley's head, after being hit himself.

The only reason he was running against Pac is because he round 1 little intentions of fighting and having and a good scrap like he said he just wanted his last big pay day, which was unjustifiable anyway becuase he was 40, ad it was clear that Mayweather shot Shane after him drawing against c-level fighter in Mora.

Floyd is too concerned with Defense to completely commit to putting power in his punches.

Again he seems to fight easier opposition and I just can't see how a fighter like this can bang out wins at WW vs Pacquiao, Cotto and Clottey.

With that said Floyd has incredible skills and his punches are straight and damn near perfect. Will never understand why he just does not fight the best with a chance to go do down as on of the greatest.

I can only surmise either in sparring or stylistically he is aware the way he is accustom to fighting will not benefit from facing true prime and tested 147 pressure warriors conditioned to go 12 rounds with world class power.

On the other hand Manny has shown as a WW any style can be out willed with his highly potent, unique and destructive offense which is probably the best in history from the southpaw stance.

Damn now i want to see these 2 fight even more. Don't think they should be fighting anybody but each other after they face Ortiz and JMM.
