Hatton and DLH could cut off the ring. Manny couldnt pin down Mosley who has no ability going backwards.
And Castillo, a strong guy with average speed already stopped 3 times before beat Floyd who couldn't hurt him.
The Pacquiao knockdown on Mosley was moreso him tripping over Pac's leg than the power from the punch that hit him in the neck. Mosley had plenty of chances to counter Manny in that fight. He just didnt throw punches. Floyd won that fight. You can say you thought he should have lost, but the judges gave him the win. It was a close fight to score. There was also an immediate rematch where he beat Castillo without question.
Different type of fighters. morales and JMM don't mind getting hit. They're primarily offensive boxer punchers. Defensive minded fighters will have a hard time getting off on Pac when they see 3 punch combos with power coming at them. Remember when everyone said if margarito was able to hit pac with over 200+ punches then mosley definitely will land more because he is overall better than tony?. Look at how that turned out? My point is just because JMM and Morales had great success over pac doesn't mean a guy like floyd who is superior than those two will. Floyd is a defense first guy that will only counter when there is no chance of him getting hit. He might find it hard to do that with pac who throws in combos and is very quick with his feet.
Your logic does not compute. He was hitting them cleanly and flush and walking them down. Especially in Shane's case, he could have stopped him if he simply put punches together.
Just goes to show your lack of real boxing intelligence ... Pressure fighters who cut off the ring only can normally only do so when they have the natural size and strength advantage . Hatton and DLH made a career of beating naturally smaller and weaker opponents for the most part. And the few times they did face men of similar size they were not even close to being as effective. You really expect PAC to be able to cut off the ring and TKo a naturally bigger, stronger man who is in full retreat ? If anything , Mosley just showed that you can survive against PAC if you pivot and run the whole time , not how to beat him.
JMM isn't really offensive-minded. As far as counter punchers go...he's second next to Floyd. Difference is he's willing to stand in range that will allow his opponent to get off more shots and eat some. He doesn't really use a whole lot of upper body movement.
Hatton and DLH both cut the ring off of Floyd...but they could never land anything clean. It's a lot harder to hit a defensive genius than even we think...and most here wuld admit it's awfully difficult.
Good point ... In the mind of a ***** ... Since Marquez is a counter puncher and had some success against PAC, then Floyd will do the same. They don't realize that Marquez is an offensive minded combination counter puncher , where as Floyd is a defensive minded single puncher reflexes counter puncher. The style is miles apart.
Every guy who has fought Floyd with speed , has been able to catch him Flush. You really think Manny won't land any big shots on Floyd?
Thats the dumbest thing I've ever read from you've and I've read alot of dumb ****. Nor does it even apply considering Pacquiao is smaller then Floyd. atsch I love when posters like you use the word "run". Instead what it really is is just being able to stay out of range. If Mosley was able to stay out of Pacquiaio's range so easily, then Mayweather who is actually talented at it, and built a career beating bigger man using that very same tactic, would easily be able to do it against Pacquiao, and while Mosley could no longer pull the trigger on a moving target, and who nobody would ever mistake for a boxer, Mayweather is the best counter puncher in the game and best pure boxer in the game, and he sure as hell would make Pacquiao pay for his inability to fight at a distance.
Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano, Joe Frazier, and Mike Tyson disagree with you. Your thoughts on boxing are proven wrong once again.
Exactly. To beat pac you will definitely have to take some punishment. No way you can just dance around pac with single shots and win. I dont think potshots beat a guy like pac anyway.
Both Marquez and Morales beat Pacquiao because they are right hand dominate fighters with excellent counter punching ability. Them being willing to take a punch comes 3rd. They didnt brawl with Pacquiao to beat him. They would have gotten destroyed, they waited for Pacquiao to make mistakes which he always does and countered him. If you watch Marquez vs Pacquiao II, Marquez gets into trouble when he tried to fight with Pacquiao, when he tried to press his advantage. When he was patient, he dominated the fight.
