ok but when has Manny ever cut the ring off well. He did it pretty well against Cotto in the 12th and I think 10th round
Leg cramps as early as 4th round plus a runner after getting KD at 3rd is not a good recipe for an exciting fight.
Better hope he dont get leg cramps vs Mayweahter. Or it'll be bad socks and wrong gloves all over again.
your right he could do a better job cutting the ring off. Shane was fighting to survive though, and would have made it look ugly either way.
Better hope Floyd doesn't "injure" his rotator cuff or else it will be a longer night than what Castillo gave him.:bbb
I guess this was a little too subtle for MW:yep. (keyword "floors"). Yes! The range is the key. This is what I think is the most interesting aspect of the fight. The distance. If Floyd stands in front of Manny like he did Shane, I think he will get knocked out. If he fights too defensive at long range, there is a good possibility he loses on volume. If the fight is fought at mid range I don't know what will happen. I think Floyd has the advantage in a phone booth fight. But Floyd seems to fight southpaws at close, but not inside, range ... and with a high guard and I think that favors Manny. I think Floyd is going to choose the wrong strategy and Manny will hurt him and he may not be able to recover.
Floyd did plenty of work on Corley on the inside. One of the best knockdowns Floyd scored in his career happened with Corley in the 10th round on the inside I think.
That's true. I would qualify that by saying Corley was worn down and leaning on Floyd by that point. I don't know if Floyd takes that risk on a fresh southpaw though. But like I said, I think Floyd on the inside can outwork Manny. The question is will Manny get tired enough or take enough punishment to let the fight go there?
Morales won because of a timely head butt. IMHO that fight would've been really close if not for that (not that I think Pac will win, it will just not be as lopsided, or maybe a better pair of socks would've made it a tougher fight :rofl). JMM lost one fight, arguably won a close rematch. Both fights close, both were fighting a green Pac (for the love of God please at least admit to this) and both were aggressive counter-punchers. Very, VERY, very different story with Floyd if you ask me .
Manny has poor ring cutting skills -- that is true. Basing it on the Mosley fight however is unfair. The dude was basically trying to survive and yes, Manny had cramps (if you ever had one, I'd say it's impressive how Manny carried on with the fight inspite of having it). The late rounds of the Pac-Cotto match is a better template, and we know how that ended. But still, Cotto was hitting Pac almost at will, problem is Pac was also returning the favor ten folds. And just so you know, Pac carried on with that fight as well with a broken hand and a busted ear drum. You just have to give props to the man for that.
