He could have been fighting:

Junior Jones (knocked out by Morales)
Kevin Kelley (knocked out by Barrera)
Derrick Gainer (stopped by Marquez)

Pac, Roach and Arum must have been scared of these black African-Americans hovering around the top 10 in their divisions, so they went for the Mexicans at the very top of the divisions instead! Scared!!



At the higher weights, Pac fought:

Oscar De La Hoya
Ricky Hatton
Miguel Cotto

WHY?

He could have been fighting:

Nate Campbell (big money household name who has never been KO'd by Robbie Peden, and who was on a long run of big wins when Pac was around)

Joan Guzman (another big money household name who has an outstanding big name big win resume that would make Oscar, Hatton or Cotto blush)

Timothy Bradley (another global megastar who brings the money, the belts, and the accomplishments with him to the table)



Conclusion: At the weights Pac fought at, if he wanted the best opponents and the biggest money, he would not have fought Barrera, Morales, Marquez, De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto, he would have fought Jones, Gainer, Kelley, Campbell, Guzman and Bradley.

by that logic you boyfriends legacy wont be complete unless he fights an italian and an irish.

 

I can't agree with people saying Pac's avoiding slick, defensive fighters and then using Campbell and the current Mosley to illustrate that point all the while negotiations are happening for a Mayweather fight. As I said in my post that got buried a couple pages back, Arum will take the worst stylistic fights for Manny as long as the payday's there. This is no different.

What I see is black american fighters (and/or their respective camps) wanting a piece of the Pacquiao pie, which is more valuable than it's ever been. I personally can't blame them. But that doesn't mean Pac's avoiding anyone, because he'll take bad stylistic fights and riskier fights as long as the compensation's there.

What I'm also seeing is a bizarre assumption from some that even the black US fighters who aren't slick/defensive types somehow hold that capability and are just biding their time for a Pacquiao fight to unleash it. That's the only way I can see people arguing that point at the same time Pac's negotiating with likely the slickest, most skilled black US fighter of our generation. If he'd fought Campbell and avoided Mayweather, then I could see something to substantiate that.
