I understand what you're saying. The point of the thread was to dispell the notion that Pac avoids fighters because they are black. I'm sorry if people took it the wrong way.
this "black fighter dilemma" is just another excuse pac haters use because they don't want to admit that pac is the best fighter in the world right now. just a while ago, haters insisted pac hasn't proven himself because he bypassed "young, hungry lions" like valero, soto and guzman. so pac continues to destroy the best fighters, jmm excluded, and what do they come up with? the "black fighter dilemma" btw, someone pointed out that sugar ray robinson never faced a slick black american fighter, but none of the haters responded to that. btw, for my own education as i'm not a pbf afficionado, which slick black american fighter has pbf faced?
Here's the problem with your post, you claim Pac only takes fights that the public wants to see. That's not true. Did the public want to see a Barrera rematch? No. Did the public want to see him fight Morales for a 3rd time right after he lost to Raheem? No. Did the public want to see him fight Solis, or Diaz, or Larios? Hell no. Did the public want to see Pac rematch Marquez? Yes, and it took like 4 years for that to happen. Imagine if Mayweather waited 4 years to rematch Castillo? Let's look at Pac's 4 most recent fights; Diaz, Hoya, Hatton,Cotto. Let's look at Mayweather's 4 most recent fights; Baldo, Hoya, Hatton, Marquez. Now the one thing that should jump out is that two of these guys appear on both lists. Mayweather fought both those guys first and both did better numbers than when Pac fought them. So right there, that's 2 fights for Floyd that the public wanted to see more. Pac's fight with Diaz(a paper champ who got a gift vs. Morales as opposed to Campbell who had 3 belts and had just beat the best fighter in the division), the PPV did about 200k. Floyd's fight with Baldo(the recognized champ) did 350k. That's another fight for Floyd with more demand. Now there was certainly more demand for Pac/Cotto than Floyd/Marquez. However, Floyd had just come off an almost 2 year layoff and it still did 1 mill buys. As far as Mayweather avoiding styles, name me a style he's avoided. He's fought boxers, punchers, swarmers, boxer/punchers, slick boxers, counterpunchers, tall fighters, short fighters, lefties, righties. You name it, he's fought it. The only exception may be a really good defensive fighter. Now name me one slick boxer Pac has fought, just name one. I'm not coming down on Pac here, most promoters do this with their fighters. They will avoid certain types of fighters unless the reward is great enough for their fighter.
What's depressing are people's inability to disucss anything related to race without throwing a hissy fit. I attempted to disspell the notion that Pac is avoiding Black fighters. My whole point was that there is a certain style that his team has kept him away from. That style is typically associated with black fighters, which is where the false notion that Pac avoids black fighters comes from. Pac will fight anyone, if the price is right. He is not Superman though. There is certain styles that will trouble any fighter. Pac is no exception. Like many fighters, his team will keep him away from these type of fighters unless there is a high enough demand.
You know what, I'm sorry I started this thread. I have no problem with people actually reading it and countering any points I made. That's what this forum is about. However, most of you guys didn't bother reading it and are attacking me based on points I never made. Pac will fight Floyd, make no mistake about it. There is too much money on the table. However, here is my central point. Mayweather has a style that will trouble Pac. If Mayweather was on par with say Berto in terms of popularity, fought the same way he does, had the same skillset, was ranked high on the p4p lists, he would be avoided by Pac; no matter what skin color he was. However, since guys that typically possess his skillset are black, Pac has falsely been accused of avoiding black fighters.
I'd rather see PAC beat the winner of Cotto/Judah which pac did than fighting somebody WHO LOST who happens to be black. So there is more importance to the color than fighting the actual winner?!!:rofl:rofl
What's so hilarious about this thread is that people are too stupid to realize that Bigreg is trying to dispel the perpetuated notion that Manny "avoids" black fighters. Instead, people think he's trying to enforce the idea. The reality is that he's explaining how the stereotype exists. Not that it is true. For example, a lot of these names like Campbell, Mosley, even Mayweather that are black fighters and fighters that are more slick and could be described as more slick than most of the opponent Pac has fought aren't fighters that Pac or Roach haven't neccessarily avoided (But decided en route not to fight. Mainly Campbell) but haven't even had the chance to really fight them. With the examples Big Reg makes, it's not a question of Roach/Pac ducking these "slick or slicker" fighters, but how they have seemingly fight good quality opponents that are just probably more suited for Pac. And this is normal sort of matchmaking you see. Why fight a fighter that's equally regarded if he obviously poses less stylistic troubles to you. Nothing abnormal, nothing weird, no ducking whatsoever. This sort of matchmaking is pale compared to the **** Floyd pulls. But the point is simply that BigReg is just examining this correlation. That is all.
:thumbsup you (bigreg) and nallege and your bull**** generalizations and racism. you guys need to pull your heads out of your asses.
thank god. i was just about to kill myself thinking there was a third thread from another racist ****** in this forum...
