why are you making things up? cotto has the best jab at 147. with your logic malignaggi would be p4p #1.
if u call brawling a skill then he is the p4p king. pacroid has 0+0= Zero pure boxing skills. He looks sloppy, fights off balance and one handed all he has is a straight left nothing eles I rate on a scale of 0-10 his right hand is garbage i give it a 3 hatton was the first person he has ever dropped with his right hand go check. I wish he would push that lazy ass jab in floyds face. he's a one handed fighter it just so happens that the guys he's been fighting lacked the skills to exploit his major flaws his opponents were chosen well and paid handsomly then u dumb ass *******s gobble on his nutts and call him an ATG IMO roid looks hella sloppy how he gets away with it IDK ??????????
I think this is one reason why we didn't see much of Cotto's fabled left hook to the body, he timed it pretty early on and I think he was able to counter it with right hooks and pretty much discouraged Cotto from using it.
:rofl:rofl:rofl I was gonna reply but I see you are punch drunk...so no. Nice thread guys. I know Manny's boxing skill is underrated so this video is a good demonstration. My only concern against Floyd is his reach and his speed. Manny has to not only be faster than May, he also need to be pin point accurate to negate Floyd's longer reach. Tough job for Pac.
Nice video. It reminds me of a mongoose against a snake. The mongoose looks sloppy but he always win fights.
It's funny to hear some haters on here claim that Cotto simply stopped throwing the jab and gave the fight away... they never seem to realize that there are more reasons to why someone would become less effective with the jab during a fight
Nice vid. Pacs skills are underrated. Obviously he relies heavily on his physical attributes but he does have some skills and isn't just some sloppy brawler like some people think. From this vid you can obviously tell that Pacs timing of Cotto's jab was very good but timing Floyd's jab will be a lot harder. Floyd throws his jab a hell of a lot quicker than Cotto plus he has a longer reach advantage over Pac so it is going to be very hard for Pac to dodge the shot then get inside and hit folyd. Also Floyd has a much higher ring IQ than Cotto. If Pac is able to time Floyds jab a couple of times don't expect Floyd to carry on doing the same thing or even abandon the jab like Cotto did. Floyd will start feinting with the jab and creating traps for pac.
While Floyd is boxing is "matured" style, economically as he has done most of his time at WW, he will be simply outworked by Manny. Sooner or later (rather sooner I guess) he will change it up. The blueprint of how to beat Manny has been laid out by Cotto from Round 5 onwards, when he showed that Manny didn't cope well with a constantly retreating opponent. In Manny's "prime", which are the fights since Marquez II, all his opponents have tried to put the pressure on, which he seems to like. Floyd made some great "fights" (though not fan favourites) being constantly on the move and jabbing his opponents into frustration: Corrales, Castillo, Baldomir amongst others.
Really good thread, thank you. Makes a change to the usual Nallege-esque bull**** that dominates the general forum.
I've already destroyed this newfound "Pac can handle the jab" myth on another thread but I'll bite again: Pay attention and you will notice that Cotto telegraphs the jab with his shoulder and commits to it EVERY time. Cotto doesn't FEINT with his jab like Mayweather. So Manny was able to time it because he knew that, if Cotto LOOKED like he was going to throw the jab, he was GOING to throw the jab. Manny's left hand counter is an automatic response based on timing... therefore, he can be suckered into throwing the left simply by FEINTING with the jab. Once Manny commits to the straight left, you can counter with the left hook or straight right because he DROPS HIS RIGHT HAND EVERY TIME HE THROWS THE STRAIGHT LEFT. Floyd will bait Manny and "counter his counter" all night. Pac is like a trained animal. He develops specific techniques to deal with certain situations. But he won't know how to deal with someone who changes his approach. Floyd won't get hit with Pac's straight left or right hook and then what will Pac have? That's right, a long night.
That is true. Cotto does not mix his jab up at all. He throws everything with power. He actually said that himself. That is his downfall technically.
