Prime Pacquiao, if he doesn't KO Loma quick, would lay a vicious, career-shortening sustained beating on Loma. Loma ain't no backfoot, run-and-hug, safety first guy. Loma's activity will leave him open to Pacquiao's all-out assaults and counters and I don't think Loma can hurt him. Pacquiao would sell out and destroy Loma.

Miguel Cotto had a better jab than Loma and Manny wasn't at his best when he fought Mayweather.

Pacquiao from the Marquez II fight TKOs Loma.
Pacquiao from the Diaz fight TKOs Loma.
Pacquiao from the Hatton fight would put Loma in the grave.
Pacquiao from ODLH to Marquez IV would put Loma in the grave as well.
Pacquiao from Bradley III to Horn would TKO Loma.

You'll see if this fight gets made at 140. Pacquiao will blitz Loma. He'll be finally fighting a guy that is smaller than him and doesn't hold a 15-20 pound size advantage.

Pacquiao's got PRIME ATGs on his resume. Loma has one elite guy who was old and much smaller.

Very true post. It's hard to believe, but we're about a decade past the last vintage Pac performance. Some people's memories may have gotten a little vague. But then go rewatch Pac Barrera I or Pac Cotto. And then reexamine Pacquiao in his prime. There is nobody active right now who could do something like that today. I'm sitting here trying to come up with anybody who could do something like that right now in 2018. Maybe Gassiev or Rungvisai could come the closest, but neither could sniff a performance like those two.

Pacquiao in his prime only struggled against orthodox fighters with an iron chin, extreme technical skill and a massive right hand. So nah, I don't see it happening.

Loma beating Linares and Mikey wouldn't make him the fav for beating prime Pac. If you favor him now that's cool, but those 2 guys are not even close to the level of a prime Pac. That's like saying if Spence beats Danny Garcia and Thurman he's favored to beat Mayweather. Not to mention Loma would have to move up in weight as well.

Pacquiao would shatter Linares' glass chin and sent fragments to the moon. With ease. It would be a walk in the park.

Prime Pac would beat Linares with ease, and Linares is one of my favorite fighters. Mikey could pose some issues since Mikey does resemble Marquez in some ways. But Marquez was also willing to take a lot of punches to give them back. I don't know if Mikey is willing. I also think Marquez knew Pac way better than Pac would. Just his kryptonite.

Because he's old and washed up, and doesn't want to take the **** imo

It's not a duck. At this point real boxing fans want to see him fight Mikey and Linares. Not a guy coming off a loss, controversial or not.

not really a good fight for asomeone already at top level like Nomas is. Pac has become someone for contenders to face now to reach the top echelon, rather than being a top echelon fight.

1 year or two ago, maybe, but Nomas was just starting out then.

But not an unviable option at all, Tinny. It would look good on his resume to casual fans, just not the greatness that Nomas seeks.

Linares can't be compared to Marquez because he may have the skill but he really doesn't have the pop to keep people honest. And Mikey doesn't have the warrior heart to put it all on the line like Marquez does (no offense to Mikey but that's not one of his attributes from what I've seen so far).

Remember Pac doesn't have a knockout since 2009. Go watch his fights from before, 2001-2009.

This. Loma's still unproven to me at the top level until he beats a Mikey Garcia or some other proven top talent in their prime.

Prime for prime at 135, PAC would definitely get out in front with his speed and power. But if JMM could counter PAC, I see no reason why Loma, a much smarter and quicker boxer with much better footwork than JMM, could not figure it out. It would be a war, as were all of Manny’s fights. Manny by close decision. Maybe with a couple knockdowns.
