This is one I've wondered about. Did Manny lay off of Marco in this one? It seemed like a complete lack of the normal Pacman killer instinct. I don't blame him for showing mercy in that one. But given what has happened since I can't help but think that Manny planned to fight this one on cruise control.
Barrera was the one extra cautious in this one and looked to try and go the distance. Reminded me of RJJ/Tarver III.
everybody has a night off at the office, and that was manny's night off.....he looked like **** in that fight.....and if barrera would let his hands go he could have been in that fight....hell, he even hurt pac in round 5 by uppercuts.
Don't forget Barrera hitting Manny on the break in frustration, just like the first fight. Manny wasn't nearly as impressive the second time around, and while people feel that if Barrera engaged more, he would've hurt Manny, you also have to look at the other side of the coin. By engaging he would have to trade, and I think Marco learned in the first fight that trading was a bad idea.
Barrera boxed pretty well in this one. Pacquiao just racked up the points. I had him winning by 7 pts
Morales just went **** IT mode in the third fight and thought he will go in there and either score a KO early or get KO'd. MAB wanted to go the distance in the rematch and look to go far enough with Pacquiao. Don't think this says that Morales has more heart, both guys have heart for actually trying, one was stopped early and one looked to survive long enough to last the full distance.
Yea he tried something different. But was too past it to pull it off. I still can't understand why Marquez struggled against that version of Barrera.
check out this quote i found from Roach leading up to Pac vs Barrera "Manny and I have been together for five years and each training camp is better than the last," continued Roach. "Manny is an exception to the rule because even though he has won three world titles and has been fighting as a professional for 12 years, he still wants to learn and is still learning. He is still evolving into one of the best fighters of his era and possibly history. He is a more complete fighter, and a smoother boxer who uses both hands effectively. What separates Manny from anyone I have worked with is his work ethic. He just works on everything, new or old, until he has perfected it. Has he reached his full potential yet? No. On a scale of one-to-ten, I rate him an eight. Trust me, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Over the next two years, when Manny finally hits his peak, fights fans of his era will be telling their grandchildren what a thrill it was to witness the great Manny Pacquiao in action."
I was expecting an exciting fight but witnessed a ho hum bout mainly because of marco just wanting to survive. Couldn't blame after what he suffered during the first bout.
