He's been in there with much better guys that Mayweather has, shared the ring with Barrera, Morrales and Marquez and fought them multiple times.
I think he's definitely the better fighter. But when a good little man fights a good big man he has to be ALOT better.
Pacquiao's workrate and accuracy will be the key to beating Floyd. You can't fight Floyd throwing only 40-50 punches per round. Pac's workrate is superb, and his handspeed and accuracy will allow him to land far more consistently than other fighters have. He'll have to apply pressure, but at the same time, maintain his lateral movement to create angles and be an evasive target.
Too much of the size difference is concern with Pacman when he fights someone out of his weight class. He proved hatton wrong at the weight hes been undefeated at, and I think he can beat Mayweather despite size, weight, height.
Pacman destroys Floyd within 6 rounds. Pacman has fought the best and beaten the best when it mattered in impressive fashion. Floyd's only good win is agianst Hatton and it took him 10 rounds to do what Pacman did in less than 2 and WITHOUT Joe Cortez' help.
Pac will look ordinary against Floyd. When Floyd outclasses Manny everyone is going to say that Mayweather "picked on a little guy". Guaranteed. As for the thread posters assesment of Pac beating Morales, Barrera and Marquez... Floyd would have destroyed those fighters at 130 lbs. He would have destroyed Pac at 130 then and he will beat Pac at any weight 140 and above now. Mark it down.
I know he's busted up people much bigger. I can see Floyd landing that straight right. But I can also see Pac ducking and shooting that counter left hook. I wasn't saying he couldn't win just be a big mountain to climb. There would probably need to be some tough midfight adjustments and it will depend on whose backup plan gets executed.
Based on what though? A past-his-prime Oscar De La Hoya troubled Floyd with his pressure and flurries. He never had him in trouble in terms of being hurt, but on the scorecards he troubled him. Pacquiao had a far superior workrate to Oscar, far superior stamina, much faster hands and unlike the flurries of Oscar, they are hard and accurate. Throw in a southpaw style and extremely elusive lateral movement, and you have a recipe to beat Floyd. Floyd's accurate countering and underrated power will definitely trouble Pacquiao, similar to Marquez. However, Marquez has a higher workrate and wasn't afraid to stand toe-to-toe. I think Floyd will need to be very active from the opening bell if he wants to win this fight!
MAnny will make Floyd fight every sec, for once in his life. But my feelin is Money by UD or late rnd stoppage.Too skilled , defensive, underrated power, immaculate condition and not a bad chin.
People also quickly forget that Floyd's not as AGRESSIVE as Manny, so of course a guy that's more of a defensive genius and counter puncher is going to take longer to get the knockout than a guy that has a high work rate like Pacquiao. The fact that Pacquiao knocked Ricky out in two rounds and Floyd took ten doesn't mean a lot to me because Floyd is a different type of fighter than Manny - he has RARELY shown the kind of aggression and punch output that Manny does. I still give Manny an excellent chance, but I'm not counting Floyd out, either.
