except only now are we pretty sure he could hang with any welter(after what he did to Cotto).

However, in the past at welter, they obviously thought he was reaching at the weight and wanted the fighters to lose some weight. Now that wont be the case. Mayweather is not only a top boxer but for the first time Pacquiao will be fighting someone at the limit too so the phyisical size 'things' could all come into play.

I didnt say a Mayweather win should be discredited. Obviously we dont know how someone will win...i simply said Pacquiao should probably get more credit if he wins.----May himself said so!! He's already told people not to be surprised should he win because its happened before!

pacquiao will be a great win for floyd and it would be his greatest win if he pulled this one. but we don't have to hide the fact that floyd is naturally bigger. most of pac's fight was done at 122-130 while most of floyds fights are from 130-140.

When Pac beat Cotto, many if not the majority were pretty convinced Pacqiuao will beat Mayweather. One poll on the General Forum said 212 people think Pac will win, 209 people think May wins.
Its a tough contest, and I think most will agree it is Pac's hardest fight on paper, and May's hardest fight on paper, so regardless who wins, they should be given credit, and i think the winner is the era's best, unless Hopkins does something crazy like beating Dawson, or a CW/HW champ.

They will each be the other man's greatest win based on their own all-time standings and current physical prowess. Floyd surely is naturally bigger and you've made a good post.

yeah it basically comes down to at this point a man who could jww but is fighting at welter so a small welter (pac) vs. an average sized welter (may)...not a lot of size difference.

Yep. I decided it was time to just cast some light on the fact that Pacquiao is not as small as people often like to suggest to sell their agenda.

Come fight night both will be fully fledged welterweights. This nonsense about Pacquiao coming from 106lb class means nothing fight night.

If you want to argue a case, then consider this.
Manny, has grown into a great fighter, all agreed? He's grown to become p4p top fighter, agreed? In my eyes he's p4p number one, but that's my opinion and irrelevant.

Anyway now consider, since Manny has grown to a great fighter, he has also grown through many of his weightclasses. So when you grow as a fighter, sometimes its only natural to grow through the weight. so his body has developed along with his boxing and he is at the top of his game, because his body is at its peak, which is around 145.

So when people say Yeh but he fought at featherweight and was world champion, Yeh he did, but he wasn't as good as he is now. Is he more powerful now or when he was at the lower weights, can he take a better punch now or when he was at the lower weights?

So don't tell me, Manny is a natural featherweight or thereabouts. Where is he at the peak of his powers? On his last performance, I Would defo say 145, he looked phenominal. So Mayweather will be fighting not a small fighter, but a fighter at the peak of his powers at welter.

By no means do I consider Manny a small welterweight, maybe a short welter, by no means small. I consider him to be short, stocky and powerful. He's a great fighter.

If size really matters, then Manny by far has the bigger balls. Mayweathers a great fighter, but a low risk fighter.

A belt doesn't make him, the same as Pacquiao vs. Cotto didn't have greater significance based on Cotto's Welterweight belt being on the line. Do you have a point?

Yep, Hopkins is the only X-Factor out there that could claim the greatest of the generation if he were to do something crazy.

Just because Baldo was considered the man doesn't make him a bigger challenge than Margo.

Agreed. This fight is on far more of a level playing field than some care to acknowledge.

Baldomir would beat Rockgloves in a boxing match without loaded gloves.
