you are jumping to conclusions. Floyd is not gonna beat Manny, so your discussion is purely academic lol
But that doesn't really prove he's small. Even if he does the opposite what most fighters do and eat alot instead of draining down, if he carried his speed and power up and is as comfortable up in the weight as he was in his previous weight, how can we say he's still too small? If he has taken WW punches like its nothing and even sometimes OVERPOWER that WW fighter, how can we still say he's too small? Especially against Floyd who is never considered a "big" WW himself as he always stays in shape all year round and rarely drains himself down, and has always stayed around or just a little bit above the 147lbs mark EVEN at fight night. Not to mention, Floyd never uses his size to win fights. So I fail to see how Floyd's size will have any bearing on this fight. Heck if you ask me, if Floyd tries to impose his "size" on Pacquiao, then the Pretty Boy will get his head knocked off. Believe that. :deal
Well we have to separate things...size is one thing, power is another thing, speed another, etc... For instance, we can say that with most welterweights size would not be an issue for Pacman but that doesn't change the fact that he's still small for a welterweight ! Like I said before, him being competitive at that weight and not making size relevant just shows how good he really is... By the way, Mayweather ain't no small welterweight anymore.. Just wait and see how much bigger he'll look next to Pacquiao when they'll be in the ring.. Broader body, taller, longer reach and heavier ! ..and the size factor coming into play doesn't have to do with a man just moving forward and imposing himself physically. The JMM-FMJ fight was a great example to show how the size and reach made it mission impossible for Marquez from the very start !
For starters, you can't be malnourished and at the same time possess the stamina and physical conditioning necessary to engage in a professional boxing match, even a 4 rounder. Lasting 4 intense rounds (the shortest possible duration for a pro bout) is no laughing matter. For those looking to explain away the Torrecampo and Singsurat losses, I'll take the young and inexperienced argument. Or the argument that Pac may have problems taking a good body shot. . .but I don't buy the "malnourished" argument.
Pac eating 5 times a day just to fill his body with mass, compared to Floyd who works hard even when everyone is asleep and still weigh more than Pac on the weigh in is an indication of the weight difference. Its what makes Pac a special fighter. He has admitted to being hurt by Cotto multiple times, but pretended he wasnt. It was mental. Being at his 7th division, and probably the highest he could come up to, is at itself a feat that nobody has done before. This proves that each fight at WW is a fight where he shouldnt be, but defies odds just the same.
while it is true that Pac started 106 but that was at age 16 being malnourished and without having amature background. At age 16 floyd was just an amature maybe just a little bit heavier than pac. I heard floyd said in an interview that he was also 106 when he was 16 but i doubt it, maybe a little higher. Being drained at lower weights in the early part of his career tottally affected his capability to take punches as he was KOd by torrecampo and and knocked down by hussein by just a jab. In his fight against a thailander for his defence he wasn't able to meet the weight despite having to sweat it out after the first tipping on scales BUT he tried to attain that weight and even pushed tru with fight where he was KO'd by a body shot. As he goes in higher weights he has improved his punch resistance. He has taken the best shots of barrera, morales, marquez and most recently walking down cotto(snapping his head by cottos uppercut & hooks. So bashing pac and basing the results of his future fight on that is not proper. Using the 106 as gauge for pac being small is also not proper. with the way pac weighs now he's just a little lighter than floyd. Only idiots will say that floyd will not get credit if he beats pac.
pac is a bum, exposed, shot fighter......who later became the #1 P4P fighter and possibly the FIGHTER OF THE DECADE!!!! muwahahahaha..
The biggest myth in boxing: Pacquiao eats far more than other professional athletes. Yes, Floyd trains a lot, but do you not at least think he also eats a lot? Come on now. ALL professional athletes eat a lot. Food = Fuel.
Dont take it literally, what i meant was, Pac's intake of food is much higher now. He NEEDS to eat a lot, to pack in the necessary weight for him to take on a bigger opponent. While some athletes like how Pac was back in the days, drain themselves just to make weight. How do you think they lost weight? Pac needs to gain weight to be competitive. Its completely different.
No bro. Its either WW size doesn't matter because he himself is already a WW or WW size does matter because he is small. You can't have it both ways. Saying that WW size doesn't matter to Pacquiao but he's still small is a contradiction. From your post, I think what your referring to is Pacquiao is a short WW. That doesn't necessarily mean he is a small WW like what Nazim said in a interview that was posted here. He likened Pacquiao to Tyson, in that Tyson was not exactly the tallest and biggest of HW's, but he had the strength, power and durability to be a legit HW. That's how I see Pacquiao as well. He has filled his frame pretty well to WW and carried his power, strength and durability to that weight. I ask you this, if Cotto, who was supposed to be the "stronger", "bigger" WW than Pacquiao COULD NOT use his size at all to his advantage, what makes you think a physically weaker Mayweather would be successfull in using his? The thing for me is, I don't look at what a fighter does to make weight(i.e draining, eating lots, etc) in judging whether or not a fighter belongs to a certain weight. I look at how he actually performs at that weight and go from there. And so far, Pacquiao has performed like a legit WW in his 2 outings there(Cotto moreso than DLH). Nothing suggests that he is a small WW that he won't be able to go toe to toe with any WW in the world, take their punches and punch right back. Being taller and having a longer reach doesn't necessarily equate to being bigger either.
