Oh well I got my money back. Manny got lucky, Brook wouldn't be a gloves high target man Looked impressive again Manny. Still didn't make me believe he'd beat Floyd but thats to be seen in the future (Floyd still has to get past Mosely) Manny's done his half of the bargain now. I expect Floyd to beat Mosley and I hope so too, Mosley Pac wouldn't be as good. Manny/Floyd August September IMO with Khan/Marquez on the undercard
I dont understand why Clottey is getting som much respect. He had a once in a life time chance to set himself up for life and let the whole world know who he was and he refused to take it. By the time it got to round 6 or 7 it became clear that Pac- man was not goiung to tire, and Clottey's tactcs were not going to work. He had no other option than to throw caution to the wind and really go for it if he wanted to have any chance of winning the fight. What he was doing was dooomed to failure. The chances of him winning would have been slim, but there would have been a slight chance. To continue what he was doing ensured he had NO chance what so ever. To me he blew it. He was in survival mode from round 1 and did not make it a competetive fight. He had the wrong attiutude from the outset. All that glove touching pish and cuddling at the end of every round isn't a sign of respect. Its a sign of weakness and hoping that your opponent will take it easy on you. The time for respect is after the bout.
Pac can win both fights, but Pac v May will never happen imo. So hopefully Shane can do the world a favour and KO Floyd on May 1st. Either way, Pac's done his work now and added another good name to his resume. It's up to Mayweather to respond.
this fight has no bearing on my prefight thoughts of him using PED's! That fight was the biggest farce I have ever seen!! Clottey came to survive, he never at anypoint in the fight looked like he wanted to win. didnt use his strength or his size to his advantage, didnt spoil him or lean on him... just stood there with his hands up and took pacs shots for 12 rounds. didnt land a single meaningful punch, even the uppercuts were pushed through. Pacquiao looked like he was dancing around a big, 160lb punchbag for the whole night. Why didnt Clottey even try and win? What was his intentions?... To survive against Pacquiao? Oh my god, I feel so sorry for the people who had to pay for that ****!!... Just a workout for Pacquiao, who at no point in the fight shown any sign if tiredness or slowing down. What the fu.....? :bart
Clottey, as ever, made a fool of himself. The guy's just a moron. He was more intent with surviving till the end than doing anything that might have seen him win. That deserves no respect - he just turned up for the pay day. At least Cotto made a fight of it early.
Pathetic performance from Clottey. A Disgwace I think he was like the journeyman that was there to take him some rounds. He knows his role. Dont upset the applecart. Uncle Bob has been very good to him considering he has no fanbase to speak of. Cotto, Margacheato, Pacman. Thats a who's who of Welterweights. As long as he keeps losing whilst being tough I'm sure Uncle Bob will keep finding the fights for him Dont get me wrong Pacman would have banged him up come what may but you at least have to give him an arguement All those people saying that that is how he always fights. If Barrera had fought as he normally fought against Nassem he would have been laid out. If Kevin Mitchell fought like he normally did against Prescott he would have taken a nap most likley. Boxing is about adapting or at least trying to
I can't believe people saying Clottey's performance was a disgrace. Yeah he had a 'once in a lifetime opportunity', but I would like to try and see you open up regularly against Pacquiao and survive. So what should he have done? Open up regularly and get starched inside of 4 rounds? Plus, that is how Clottey fights - it's nothing new - he just couldn't cope with the workrate of Pacquiao and didn't have enough time to get his own punches off.
That's exactly how I see it too. Reading various forums I'm seeing huge amounts of posters claiming this was nothing more than a fix. What were people expecting? Pacs work rate was always going to be too much for Clottey. Why the surprise?
Because, for fighter facing the best guy in the world, to make almost no effort to actually win? that's woeful.
