This is a decent number (Pac-Cotto) in comparison to PBF-JMM. One has to bear in mind that:

    1. both are not american and hardly speak coherent english
    2. it's more pricey
    3. the undercard's utter shiet--it's the main event that basically carried the card
    4. better live gate attendance
    5. was not postponed on some ethnic holiday to capitalize on
    6. did not prolly take as much promotion and advertising money, hence giving maximized profit/return to all involved.

No it's not a disadvantage at all because what you're discussing is PPV sales on HBO in the US. So it doesn't matter whether the fight is free in the Phillippines or not, it doesn't impact on these figures.

That's why you all think the biggest all-time buy rate for a PPV boxing match is De La Hoya against Mayweather whereas that's actually third behind Lewis v Tyson and Hatton v Mayweather :good

Some people have already mentioned it, but this did 1.25mil at $54.95. It grossed more on the livegate and grossed nearly 20mil more in PPV. How can anyone say that Pac their dissapointed.

Yeah, Firepower didn't need nearly 12 mil in Promotional investments to hype the fight up.

THis is boxing.....a fighter is just as good as his last fight and that goes for the fighters numbers as well. Since PAC has beaten Floyd as the PPV King, Floyd has lost any leverage to get the lions share of the purse. The best FLOYD can "ask" for is 50/50.

Puerto Rico is an "unincorporated territory" of the United States which according to the U.S. Supreme Court's Insular Cases is "a territory appurtenant and belonging to the United States, but not a part of the United States."[49] Puerto Rico is subject to the CongressÂ’ plenary powers under the territorial clause of Article IV, sec. 3, of the U.S. Constitution.[50] U.S. federal law applies to Puerto Rico, even though Puerto Rico is not a state of the American Union and has no voting representative in the U.S. Congress. Because of the establishment of the Federal Relations Act of 1950, all federal laws that are "not locally inapplicable" are automatically the law of the land in Puerto Rico.[51]
Since 1917, people born in Puerto Rico are U.S. citizens. As such, they are entitled to vote at the federal level, but not from the island, as the territory is not incorporated.

Okay Puerto Rico is an American Colony. Cotto is still an American.

    Pacquiao-Cotto 1.25 million > Mayweather-Marquez 1.05 million.

Even with all the Mexican-Americans helping the bulk of PPV in the Mayweather-Marquez fight, still falls short of Pac-Cotto, and Pac is not even American :yep.

Floyd, former PPV king. Hail Manny Pacquiao, NEW PPV king. :smoke
