Roach sure was talking a lot of trash however.

 

well for pac & cotto that's not needed coz for sure fan will watch them coz fans know what to expect from both of them. but for floyd he definitely needs alot of trash talk to sell his fight.

 

Well of course you dont always need trash talking to sell a fight but lets not kid ourselves and believe the trash talking doesnt help. PBF v Pacquiao would do big numbers regardless but with all the **** being said from the Mayweather camp and Roach its going to do even better.

I dont care what anyone says but the reason Hatton v PBF did 1.4 mil buys in the UK was down to the fact that Mayweather became a killer 'heel'. People wanted to see Hatton knock him out. All non boxing fans would say is 'that mayweather is one arrogant cocky *****'.

 

Both guys fight for the fans, they deserve the credit. These guys don't need sales talk, they do their talking in the ring.

The fight promoted itself, Top Rank should be ashamed for selling us shitty undercard. They should put Gamboa on there, he's an upcoming star in the sport and an exciting fighter. Give him some shine, imagine 1.5 mil and casual fans getting a see at Gamboa (not saying Gamboa's great, but he looks like he has a bright future).

 

Talking trash is really a "black" thing. If you're not black you may not understand. It goes back as far as Muhammad Ali. Its a cultural thing.

Its not really meant to disparage the opponent, its just one up manship.

You see between NBA players, Michael Jordan with the tongue out.

You see it the NFL, Chad Ochocinco saying no one can cover him, he was talking trash to both Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson on NFL Network.

You see hip hop artist/rappers doing it all the time.

The street dancers do it.

Its a black thing and its not going to stop.

 

Talking trash its not necessarily a bad thing if you back it up with actions.

but when all you do is talk and talk and dont do nothing to back your **** up,your talk gets old very quick.

 

This fight sold more than 1.5 million. The buzz was incredible for thsi fight

 

All I'm trying to tell you that is a cultural thing.

This fight created more excitement and anticipation than any other fight in recent memory. Even though the betting odds were not even, the fans
were 50/50 on picking a winner. Both these fighters have amazing respect from the whole boxing world. Manny and Cotto deserved a fight of this magnitude, in which millions witnessed two of boxings greatest warriors.

 

Trash talking is not necessary, but it can definitely help.

And how the hell were Cotto and Pacquiao going to trash talk anyway. Pac's first language is one from the Phillipines. Cotto's first language is spanish. Both of them are still trying to learn english. I dont think they would have able to trash talk effectively anyway.
