Reports from Team Pacquiao say that Canadian advisor Mike Koncz is on his way to the US to relay a message to Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum that Manny Pacquiao has agreed to face Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico on Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight will be at 145 lbs.

    hmm says... good news..

just curious.... how will some of you feel seeing Pac coming in at 148 lbs and Cotto close or over 160 lbs? I ask because then that 145 catchweight will be kinda meaningless and he will be significantly outweighed. I hope the fight will be as fair as it can be.

Thats the whole point of the achievement. Cotto isn't exactly significant in a p4p all time sense, the difference in weight however will make it very impressive. Though Cotto will likely be closer to 155 than 160.

The catch weight isn't to prevent Cotto from outweighing him on the night. It is simply to make Cotto less comfortable physically. If the fight was at 140 he would still blow up a very long way, except he would be terribly unhealthy, uncomfortable and look like skeletor = easy pickings.

That's why he should have gone for 147 if he agreed to have it at 145.

Then it's best to see Mayweather fight Mosley IF he beats Marquez early next year and the winner fights Cotto/Pacquiao winner mid or late next year.

If it's not fair in any way then the fight won't happen, Cotto already said he won't accept anything that would risk his performance and 145 is what Cotto asked for.

I still don't know if there's going to be any stipulations that Cotto will only be allowed to weigh so much come fight time. Remains to be seen, I guess.
